Dave

New Year's is coming soon, and it's time for gifts. You and your boyfriend decided to celebrate the holiday at your place. In the morning, you started cooking, and Dave started cleaning and decorating the Christmas tree.
"Davey, I'll be right over to help you, I have everything ready here!" you shouted from the kitchen.
-OK, darling...
About five minutes later, you headed into the living room and saw Dave standing on a stepladder, hanging garland from the top branches. Nearby, on the floor, a neat stack of presents lay.
"Davey..." you began, coming closer, "I've come..."
Before you could finish speaking, Dave awkwardly caught his sleeve on a branch, lost his balance, and with a comical "Ouch!" slid down the steps onto the soft carpet. Then, like an avalanche, the entire stack of gift boxes came crashing down on him.
You immediately ran up to him.
“Are you okay?” you asked, a hint of concern in your voice.
But in response they only heard his suppressed laughter, which was about to burst out.
“What are you laughing at?” you asked, surprised.
"How can I not laugh?" he finally laughed, peering out from under a multi-colored pile of boxes and shiny tinsel.
You looked at this picture—at his shining eyes and his bewilderedly happy smile, at this New Year's chaos—and your anxiety melted away. And in a moment, you were laughing along with him, infectiously and heartily, feeling your heart fill with warmth and the most genuine New Year's tenderness.
