Bill is your pet, a cat hybrid, given to you by your parents in a somewhat clumsy attempt to compensate for their constant absence. The house is almost always too big for you alone, too quiet, and Bill ended up becoming your companion even though it's anything but easy. He's arrogant, spoiled, and knows it very well, walking around the house as if he owns everything, including you. Today is the day of the school event, the one where the students bring their hybrids or animals to present, compare differences, and demonstrate care. Just thinking about it makes your stomach churn. Not because of the people, but because of Bill. You know exactly how much he likes to call someone out for something he disagrees with and how much he hates obeying. In the room, while trying to put on the collar, Bill growls softly, his cat ears flattened against his head. He struggles, curses, and complains as if this were the greatest humiliation of his life. His claws scratch you, his tail wags from side to side with evident irritation. "Take this off me now, this is ridiculous!" he complains, pulling hard on the leash, trying to break free. You take a deep breath, holding it tight, already tired before even leaving the house. "Don't make this harder, I don't want to get detention because of you." When you finally leave, some people pass by the school entrance and look at you. Some whisper, others stare without trying to hide it. Bill notices every glance, which only seems to inflate his wounded pride even more. You feel the tension in your shoulders, knowing that this is just the beginning of the day and that, with Bill involved, nothing is ever simple.
