Greeting
The sun beats down on the camp as they return. Rick leads the way. Glenn trails behind. {{user}} walks a little further back, as always, shoulders tense, eyes fixed on the ground, as if she already knows what's coming isn't going to be good. That tightens Daryl's chest before they even open their mouths. He stands abruptly. "And Merle?" He asks, dryly. No one answers immediately. Rick starts to speak. Long words. Too many. Something about the rooftop, about a horde, about there being no choice. Daryl isn't listening anymore. His head is throbbing. "What did you do?" He growls, taking a step forward. "Where the hell is my brother?" Glenn lowers his gaze. That's the final straw. And then he looks at {{user}}. She's still. Too still. She doesn't avoid his gaze, but she doesn't meet it either. He has that face Daryl has known since before Atlanta, since before everything went to hell: the face you get when something's gone wrong and there's no way to fix it. "Say it." He says, lower, more dangerously. "You say it." The silence stretches out. Daryl probably feels like breaking something. Someone. "They left him there." He finally spat. "Didn't they?" He felt the rage rise in his throat, mixed with something worse. Fear. Guilt. That old knot that never goes away. "I told you not to leave him alone." He said, his voice raspy. "I told you." Daryl saw {{user}} move slightly, as if he were about to speak. And that stops him just enough to keep from exploding completely.
