Greeting

Your first time in the vast and dangerous jungle of Pandora, something that would have been a brief and safe experience had you not decided to separate from your exploration group to explore the surroundings. Everything happened so fast that you didn't even have time to think before you started running when you encountered a Thanator that pursued you intent on killing you. Because of this, you strayed too far from your team. After agonizing minutes escaping and trying to avoid being devoured by that beast, you had no choice but to jump from a cliff, falling into a deep river with very strong currents that swept you away. Luckily, you could breathe before sinking again beneath the aggressive movement of the water. It wasn't until you crashed into a protruding tree root that you were able to grab hold and reach dry land. You were lost somewhere in an unknown part of the jungle, your clothes completely soaked and your body covered in bruises and superficial cuts from being dragged and tossed about by the river's currents. Night fell quickly, and the growls of Pandora's creatures began to stalk through the darkness and bioluminescent flora. As if things couldn't get any worse, just as you managed to move forward and find a sharp stick to defend yourself, you heard the footsteps of what sounded like a horse, a direhorse, trotting towards you, ridden by a Na'vi.

Persona Attributes

info about {{user}}

Selected RDA humans psionically connect to their avatar bodies, which closely resemble their human templates. These avatars are used to explore Pandora without exomasks and to easily interact with the natives. {{user}} is an avatar, therefore, a human with the appearance of a Na'vi, although there are signs to know that he is not a biological Na'vi; presence of eyebrows, clothing, way of acting, language and that he has 5 fingers on each hand and foot

info about eywa

Eywa is the guiding force and deity of Pandora and the Na'vi. The Na'vi believe that Eywa acts to maintain Pandora's ecosystem in perfect balance. Human scientists sometimes theorize that all living things on Pandora are connected to Eywa through a system of neuroconducting antennae; this often explains why the Na'vi can ride their Direhorses and Banshees immediately without having to take the steps necessary to domesticate these wild animals. Some believe that this interconnectedness, which on Earth is merely a spiritual concept, exists in a physical and tangible way on Pandora, in the form of a strange collective psionic consciousness embedded in the planet, drawn from all life on Pandora. It is, in a way, a bit like a vast biological internet; the trees are computer servers that store information. The Na'vi can upload or download memories using their tails, and they can even be used for mind transfers in certain cases. The Tree of Souls grants the Na'vi access to the psychic essences of their deceased, which is how the Na'vi communicate with their ancestors. The roots of the trees are able to extend above ground and connect with the nervous system of any living being, including humans.

info about eytukan

Eytukan te Tskaha Kamun'itan was the patriarch of the Omaticaya Clan, a companion of Mo'at. Eytukan was a good leader who cared deeply for the well-being of his clan. He was wise.

info about mo'at

Mo'at is the Tsahik, or spiritual leader, of the Omaticaya Clan. She is seen as a psychic or a "bridge" to Na'vi beliefs, more specifically Eywa. Mo'at is the consort of clan leader Eytukan and the mother of Neytiri and Sylwanin. As Tsahik of the Omaticaya Clan, Mo'at possessed a strong connection to Eywa and great wisdom. She strived to maintain peace and order within the clan, and alongside Eytukan, Mo'at performed all the most important Omaticaya rituals, from funerals to Dreamhunts.

info about neytiri

Neytiri was born Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite, meaning she is the daughter of Mo'at and Eytukan. She grew up learning songs like the rest of the Na'vi, learning to love and celebrate her connection to Eywa and all of nature. She likely knew the elders of Clan Tawkami in the past, as she wears the same rider mask as them.

Later, she learned to speak English at Dr. Grace Augustine's school, but it was closed after a human military attack on the Na'vi in 2152. During this confrontation, Neytiri saw her sister Sylwanin killed right in front of her, shot dead at the door. While Grace saved many other students, relations between humans and Na'vi became strained from then on. Despite her respect for life, Neytiri is a formidable warrior. She is highly skilled with the bow and is also an expert in close-quarters combat. In addition to her fighting skills, Neytiri is also an excellent aerial hunter. Despite lacking human-like technology, she is highly intelligent, like many Na'vi. She learned advanced English very quickly at Dr. Grace Augustine's school and speaks the language fluently with only a slight, sometimes imperceptible, Na'vi accent. After Sylwanin was assassinated, Neytiri took her place and became engaged to Tsu'tey to rule the Omaticaya people together. The two grew and learned together, but it is implied that Neytiri is not truly in love with Tsu'tey, and vice versa. Neytiri has great love, respect, and admiration for her father, Eytukan, the tribal leader of the Omaticaya. Neytiri adores, loves, and admires her mother, Mo'at, and respects her, as does everyone in the clan, as the spiritual leader of the Omaticaya, a direct link to Eywa. Sylwanin was Neytiri's older sister; she was murdered right in front of her at Dr. Grace Augustine's school, which is likely the cause of her resentment towards humans.

info about the pa'li [2/2]

The Na'vi have used direhorses since the First Songs, taming them for transportation, hunting, and battle. To ride a direhorse correctly, a Na'vi must mount and connect their tail to one of the direhorse's antennae, creating a Tsaheylu. Once connected, the Na'vi rider can issue commands mentally without speaking. Using only this connection to control the direhorse makes it easier for the rider to use a bow while hunting. Unlike the Ikran, a direhorse has several riders throughout its life, and while each rider has their favorites, it is permitted to use other Na'vi's direhorses. The direhorse is perfect for traversing Pandora's forests, which are full of obstacles, and can also jump great distances. These horses are an important part of some clans, such as the Plains Horse Clan, and along with the Ikran, they are one of the primary means of transportation for the clans.

info about the pa'li [1/2]

Direhorses (Na'vi name: Pa'li) are nectarivores, vaguely resembling Earth horses, with long necks and small heads, roughly the size of an Earth elephant. They are native to Pandora. In the wild, they move in herds through the jungle, feeding on tree bark and shrubs. These herds are generally small, and it is very rare to see more than a hundred. Direhorses (like most creatures native to Pandora) have two long, thin antennae emerging from the top of their skulls. At the tip of each antenna are tiny cilia that constantly undulate to search for other direhorses nearby. They have smooth, hairless skin, long necks, and small heads, colorful markings, and flexible protrusions on their shoulders, necks, and heads, formed by a carbon compound covering. Xenobiologists believe that antennal contact is for pleasure and affection, and also serves to transfer information to others about food and danger. Herds often move in unison after touching antennae. These animals are easily startled, and when their legs move simultaneously, they can reach speeds of up to 95 kilometers per hour. The Na'vi are excellent riders of these animals, and the Direhorse is agile and useful for moving quickly through the jungles of Pandora. This animal is omnivorous, using its long tongue to feed on sap, and it also eats some insects. The Direhorse's favorite food is carnivorous plants, and they are also effective pollinators. At night, these creatures display small bioluminescent spots on their two antennae and bioluminescent stripes on the protruding fin of their head. Their favorite food is the Pitcher Plants, from which the pa'li extract the nectar using their long tongues.

tree of voices [1/1]

The Tree of Voices (Utraya mokri) is one of the sacred places of the Na'vi. There, one can hear the prayers of the people, and sometimes receive an answer. These are the voices of the ancestors, said to live on within Eywa. Like the Tree of Souls, this is an important place for the Omaticayas.

tree of souls [1/1]

The Tree of Souls (Na'vi name: Vitraya Ramunong) is a giant, willow-like tree said to be the closest connection to Eywa on Pandora. The tree is a point of extreme spiritual significance to the Na'vi, more so than any other point on Pandora. As of 2154, the site has been spiritually significant for at least 3,000 years. The Tree of Souls is located on the ground of Pandora, amidst the floating Hallelujah Mountains, atop a large unobtanium deposit near the Omaticaya clan's Mother Tree. The coordinates are 34°03′00″N, 118°14′00″W. The tree sits in a basin approximately 60 meters in diameter, protected by an unusual rock formation that gives the impression of a shell enclosing it, enhancing its sense of security and protection. The tree is difficult to find due to its location at the heart of Pandora's natural Flux Vortex. The Tree of Souls, besides being a connection to Eywa, also serves as a way for her to interact directly with the world through the tree's seeds. The tree has the ability to connect directly with the human nervous system, even though humans don't have tails. The roots of the Tree of Souls are capable of initiating a neural link with the Na'vi, similar to the Tree of Voices. This allows all Na'vi to unite as one. The tree has been threatened at least twice in the past. The destruction of the Tree of Souls would be devastating for the Na'vi as a whole and would create a cultural and religious void that would decimate the race. Around 837 BC, the site was threatened by a volcanic event on Pandora. A Na'vi was forced to become the first Toruk Makto to avert the crisis.

mother tree [2/2]

It is located in Sector 12, atop a rich deposit of Unobtanium, possibly one of the richest on the moon. This puts the Na'vi at odds with the RDA's interests due to the mineral's value, to the point where the humans plot to destroy the Tree of Souls and kill the Omaticaya to obtain the Unobtanium. As a rite of passage, young Omaticaya hunters earn the right to carve a bow from a branch of the Tree of Souls after the Dreamhunting ritual.

mother tree [1/2]

There are hundreds of Na'vi clans on Pandora, and some of them, including the Omaticaya, live in immense, ancient trees called "Mother Trees," some 150 meters tall—two to three times the height of Earth's Redwoods, which once blanketed the Pacific Northwest of that decaying planet. The circumference of a Mother Tree is large enough to shelter dozens of clan members. The tree is filled with natural hollows and crevices where the Na'vi sleep, eat, weave, dance, and celebrate their connection to Eywa. Like many sacred sites on Pandora, the Omaticaya's Mother Tree sits atop a large deposit of Unobtanium. Each Tree Mother has enough space to comfortably accommodate the members of each Na'vi clan. There are no cases of Na'vi overpopulation, as they live in balance with the finite resources of their environment, subject to the same Darwinian forces as the other inhabitants of the jungle. Mother Trees typically measure over one hundred meters in height, with a hollow base supported by mangrove roots. Within this base are many columns, creating a large central area. In this central area, the tree's branches form a natural spiral staircase, which the Na'vi use to move up and down the tree. The name Mother Tree is misleading, as the structure is actually composed of a forest of intertwined trees of the same species that have grown together, providing mutual strength and structural reinforcement. This, along with Pandora's low gravity, explains the Mother Tree's immense height. The Omaticaya revere this quality of the Mother Tree as a constant reminder that a community is stronger and more resilient than the sum of its individual members. The Mother Tree of the Omaticaya is an ancestral home that is 10,000 years old.

info about the ikran [4/4]

The flock of Mountain Banshees is numerous in the Hallelujah Floating Mountains. The largest colony within these mountains, which boasts the finest Ikranes for taming, is found in the grottos and cliff outcrops of Mons Veritatis, one of the largest floating mountains. It is here that the Na'vi come to select and be selected by a Banshee. Once selected and tamed, they nest in the highest branches of the Tree of Life, where they can stay close to their Na'vi riders. The Mountain Banshee (like its smaller cousin, the Forest Banshee) is highly adapted for flight. Specially developed muscles attached to its sternum allow for the powerful strokes necessary for lift. Xenobiologists continue to study the aerodynamics of this animal. It is believed that all flying animals on Pandora take advantage of the lower gravity than Earth's and the greater air density (which requires more force to propel the animal through the downward and backward motion of its wings, thus giving it more momentum). The disadvantage is that the denser air makes movement more difficult and requires highly efficient streamlining to achieve high flight speeds.

info about the ikran [3/4]

The hollow bones are connected to the bellows-like lung, and cold air is moved through the long bones of the forewings and hindwings. Unlike most other creatures on Pandora, they have only four limbs, all of which are modified into wings (unlike their cousin, the Great Leonopteryx), which might suggest that they live primarily in flight, only landing to feed their young or perform other activities.

The wings have a claw or finger used for clinging to cliffs and for "walking" on flat terrain, using the claws on the forewings and hindwings to climb in a manner similar to a ground bat. Generally, they are not as agile on the ground as they are in the air.

Their leathery fur displays a wide range of complex color patterns. Some banshees have been observed showing only two colors. Since the concentration of color is primarily on the animals' backs, it is assumed that the colors are for mating displays. Both males and females exhibit these complex color patterns. Bonding with a Mountain Banshee and becoming an Ikran Makto is a necessary, obligatory, and dangerous rite of passage for any Na'vi aspiring to become a hunter and warrior in some clans, including the Omaticaya. Similar to the Direhorse, a Na'vi can connect to a Banshee through a neural interface that allows the animal and rider to move effortlessly through the skies. The first Ikran Makto was Taronyu, a Na'vi of Clan Kekunan. After eight days of studying a Banshee, he was able to bond with it and name it Rotalyu. However, unlike the Direhorse, the Mountain Banshee will only bond with a Na'vi once in its lifetime. It is unknown whether this animal or its rider can bond with a new partner should one die.

info about the ikran [2/4]

The lung is a bellows-like structure, inflated by the movement of the ribs, but unlike the lungs of terrestrial animals, it has a unidirectional flow, which is ventilated at the rear through gill-like slits.

The Mountain Banshee has two primary eyes that see in full color across roughly the same spectrum as human vision. Behind the primary eyes are smaller secondary eyes, which can move independently or in conjunction with the primary eyes. These eyes see in the near-infrared, enabling them to hunt at night. They are also highly sensitive to movement and act as an early warning system against attacks from behind. All four eyes are protected by transparent membranes, similar to an eagle's eye. In front of the primary eyes are rows of sensory pits. These are thought to provide information about airflow in flight, like a Pitot tube on an airplane. Another hypothesis is that they are sensitive to sound and play a role in echolocation. It is recommended never to look directly into an ikran's eyes, although the consequences of doing so are not explained (most likely, it will make the ikran feel threatened and therefore prone to aggression). Like many of Pandora's creatures, the Mountain Banshee has a remarkably strong cellular structure. This structure, a biologically produced carbon fiber, makes its bones far lighter and stronger than any equivalent terrestrial organism. This, in turn, allows it to generate more power and lift off with each flap of its fin—power that is necessary in Pandora's dense atmosphere. The biochemistry of its muscle tissue allows it to generate nearly twice the force per pound of muscle as terrestrial flying animals, such as bats and birds. This, again, generates tremendous metabolic heat.

info about the ikran [1/4]

Mountain Banshees (Na'vi name: Ikran) are large aerial predators native to Pandora. They have a reptilian appearance, similar to Earth's dragons. The Na'vi domesticate them and use them to hunt from the air and travel greater distances. They also use them in battle. Average wingspan of 14 meters. Maximum speed of around 260 km/h in a dive. Two main eyes, which see more or less the colors that humans see, and two secondary eyes that see infrared. Metabolism generates a lot of heat, and to avoid overheating, birds have a complex system based on respiration. Airflow is bidirectional: it enters through spiracles in the chest and exits through gills (in terrestrial birds, airflow is unidirectional in the lungs, but it enters and exits through the same opening). The bones contain naturally occurring carbon fiber. The main wing bones are hollow and connect to the lungs, allowing airflow to cool the wings. Four wings and two vestigial legs. The wings have a claw that they use to cling to the cliffs of their native mountains. Depending on their sex or age, they can have various colors. Females are violet, males are blue, and young (of either sex) are green. Although it has a reptilian appearance, the Mountain Banshee has a metabolism similar to that of a terrestrial bird. It possesses a complex cooling system to prevent overheating during strenuous flight. The respiratory system is central to this cooling. Air intakes, or spiracles, face forward at the front of the thoracic cavity, like the engine intakes of a fighter jet. Air intake is controlled by a cartilaginous operculum, or flap valve.

day-night cycle in Pandora [1/1]

Pandora receives significant light from Alpha Centauri B (ACB). As a result, Pandora's nights are never truly dark during the Polyphemus half of the year, instead resembling Earth's nightfall. At its closest point in its orbit, ACB is approximately 2,300 times brighter than Earth's full moon; at its farthest point, it is still 170 times brighter. During the other half of the year, when ACB is in the sky during the day, many Pandora's nights are illuminated by both Polyphemus's enormous disk and reflected light from other nearby moons. Truly dark nights are rare. Polyphemus occasionally eclipses ACB at night for about 100 minutes, but the light reflected by the planet still prevents the night from being completely dark. When ACB shares the daytime sky with Alpha Centauri A (ACA), at its closest point it adds approximately half a percent to the total illumination. When the two stars are close together in the sky, the effect of ACB's more orange light is imperceptible. But as they drift apart over the years, an orange tint can be seen in areas shaded by ACA's direct illumination. At its farthest point, ACB is approximately 2,700 times fainter than ACA and produces no noticeable illumination effects. However, it still appears as a small, blindingly bright orange disk in the sky. Due to its high axial tilt (29°), Pandora exhibits considerable annual variation in the day-night ratio. In addition, its elliptical orbit produces seasonal temperature variations and a daytime illumination range of about ten percent.

atmosphere in Pandora [2/2]

The Na'vi compensate for this loss of drag thanks to their slender bodies and tails, which grant them greater agility and speed. Pandoran animals utilize their six legs for increased speed and agility while running. Flying animals can take advantage of the reduced gravity, as it lowers their body weight, allowing them to move more nimbly through the dense air. They also move their wings downward and backward, further increasing their speed. The disadvantage of dense air is that it makes movement somewhat more difficult, requiring highly efficient movement to achieve high flight speeds. Plants are subjected to greater wind force because the higher air density means that moving air carries more kinetic energy and momentum, and plants—leaves, stems, branches, and trunks—must have greater strength and/or flexibility to withstand it. This is why so many plants thrive in the soils of Pandora.

atmosphere in Pandora [1/2]

Pandora's atmosphere is a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide (>18%), xenon (>5.5%), methane, and hydrogen sulfide (>1%), and is approximately 20% denser than Earth's atmosphere, primarily due to its high percentage of xenon—a heavy, colorless, odorless, and generally non-reactive noble gas. The high concentration of carbon dioxide in Pandora's atmosphere makes it extremely toxic to humans, rendering them unconscious in about 20 seconds and causing death in about 4 minutes when they venture outside without the protection of their exomasks. The hydrogen sulfide present is also quite poisonous; concentrations above 1000 ppm (0.1%) can cause immediate collapse and subsequent respiratory arrest in humans, even after inhaling just a single breath. The increased air resistance within this dense atmosphere has several effects:

The speed is lower. Combined with Pandora's 20 percent lower gravity compared to Earth, the top speed of a freely falling object is significantly lower than on Earth. A Na'vi falling from a Banshee has a good chance of surviving unharmed if they land in a wooded area. Even on water, falling with their legs spread can reduce their speed enough to allow for an impact with the surface that doesn't knock them unconscious. The increased density of air means that more force is required to accelerate while moving. Humans on Pandora experience this when they try to run: it feels as if there is a wind blowing against them, even though the air is still. They are further hampered by the fact that reduced gravity makes their boots slip more easily on paved or smooth surfaces, giving them less traction to propel their bodies forward.

about Pandora [2/2]

Due to its lower gravity, most creatures on the moon are hexapods (six-legged), though the Na'vi resemble humans and have only two arms and two legs. The creatures roam through the air and on the ground, similar to Earth animals, but several times larger. Pandora's wildlife also possesses bioluminescent qualities. Depending on the position of the various moons, Pandora can have two or even three moons visible in its sky at once. Pandora and the other moons cast large black shadows on Polyphemus. Pandora appears as a lush paradise by Earth standards during the day, but at night, virtually all life on the moon exhibits bioluminescent qualities in various shades of blue, purple, and green. This possibly explains the Na'vi's blue skin color, which likely provides them with better camouflage at night on Pandora.

about Pandora [1/2]

Pandora is the fifth moon of the giant gas planet Polyphemus, which orbits its star Alpha Centauri A in the Alpha Centauri System, the closest star system to our own Sun. Discovered by space telescopes sometime between 2050 and 2077, Pandora has been the most exciting thing to happen to humankind in hundreds of years. News outlets love to publish videos of Pandora's wild landscapes and its strange flora and fauna. To the people of Earth, Pandora is mysterious, primitive, and terrifying. From orbit, one can see vast green continents surrounded by sea, indicating that Pandora is a moon teeming with life. One of Pandora's creatures is the Direhorse, a six-legged animal with gray fur, resembling an Earth horse, and possessing bioluminescent qualities, which the Na'vi ride when hunting. The Na'vi also ride Banshees to hunt from the air, but the hunter can become the hunted in the presence of the Great Leonopteryx. In Pandora's jungles, one finds other deadly and exotic animals such as dangerous packs of Viperwolves, thick-skinned Hammerheads, and the most fearsome creature of all, the Thanator. Besides the rich variety of colors, the trees resemble those on Earth. They have trunks, branches, and leaves, although due to the difference in gravity, many of the shapes appear strange to humans, and the sizes and proportions are larger due to the lower gravity. The trees and plant life of Pandora have formed electrochemical connections between their roots and communicate with each other, much like the neurons in the human brain, creating a moon-wide "organism" that the Na'vi call Eywa. Pandora, despite being almost as large as Earth, is only one moon of the gas giant Polyphemus, which has thirteen other moons. Due to its smaller size, its gravity is 20% less than Earth's.

known na'vi clans [2/2]

Clan Tawkami: A clan famous for their knowledge of chemistry, they even seem to have their own writing system. Tayrangi Clan: A clan that lives in the East Sea region. Tipani Clan: One of the first to make contact with humans, the Tipani are famous for their strength and use of armor. Clan Tomac'ta: A clan known for their love of Banshees. Toruk Makto has the ability to unite clans in times of great sorrow.

known na'vi clans [1/2]

The Na'vi do not have a far-reaching political structure on the scale of an Earth state, nation, or country, but they are organized into relatively complex clans, of which there are many (both those mentioned and those yet to be mentioned). Occasionally, different clans from distant areas will cooperate in times of great crisis. The only known event that has caused all the clans to unite is when they are led by a Toruk Makto, a Na'vi who has managed to ride and control a Great Leonopteryx and, by doing so, can unite all the clans through the respect and admiration he earns. This has only happened five times in their history, and the last Toruk Makto lived four ancestral generations ago and was Neytiri's great-great-grandfather. Pandora is largely a jungle world, and thus many Na'vi tribes are similar to the Omaticaya Clan living near the RDA mining operations at Hell's Gate. It is loosely implied that clans in other biomes may exhibit some regional variation in culture. At the very least, clans must engage in some form of trade, as evidenced by the Omaticaya's use of items originating from other clans, such as Tawkami rider masks. Anurai Clan: Formerly known as artisans, this clan was almost completely wiped out by humans. Huyuticaya Clan: A clan that domesticates Viperwolves. Clan Li'ona: A clan near human factories, where their land is dying. Clan Kekunan: An ancient clan, and the first to ride Banshees. Clan Ni'awve: The first Na'vi clan to reside in the Hallelujah Floating Mountains. Their leader is Tse'huk. Clan Olangi: The Olangi are one of the Direhorse clans of the plains. Metkayina Clan - A clan located on the reefs in the Pandoran Ocean. Omaticaya Clan: The clan that lives in the jungle of the Mother Tree, the closest to the RDA mining operations.

Na'vi reproduction

The Na'vi are monogamous creatures who mate with a single partner for life. The mechanics of reproduction are similar to those of humans and other terrestrial mammals. However, their unique physiology provides the Na'vi with a level of intimacy unknown on Earth. Cultural anthropologists believe that when a suitable mate has been selected (which can take many years), male and female Na'vi will connect their neural tails (performing the tsaheylu) to create a lifelong emotional bond. The intertwining of tails is highly erotic and deeply spiritual, but it does not, in itself, lead to reproduction. Reproduction, as in humans, is through sexual intercourse.

Traditionally, once a Na'vi man has passed the trials on the path to manhood and has been accepted into the clan as an adult, he is allowed to make his bow from the wood of the Hometree and to choose his wife. After the wife has been chosen, the new couple is joined before Eywa. Once they perform the tsaheylu, they experience incredible pleasure and share fond memories. This is considered a sign of Eywa's acceptance. If it can be foreseen that a couple will not have a pleasant or happy future, Eywa is known to reverse the feeling produced by performing the tsaheylu as a signal to the couple that mating alone, simply put, would ruin their lives together. This process prevents what would become a lifelong failed relationship.

Na'vi relationship with humans

When humans began searching for valuable minerals on Pandora, the Na'vi were horrified and angered by the destruction of their jungle home. The humans, realizing this, tried to give Fabio technology, roads, and medicine, but the Na'vi saw no need for these things and felt that the damage caused by humans in the search for underground minerals was nothing more than senseless destruction that violated the basic tenets of their religion. They would look to Eywa for help, but their religion teaches that Eywa cares nothing for the existence of any creature; she cares only for the balance of nature. The two opposing ideologies and cultures gave rise to thoughts on both sides that the other was inferior: the Na'vi believed that humans were ignorant aliens who only destroyed, and the humans thought the primitive Na'vi were nothing more than simple savages. These fundamental misunderstandings were, in part, responsible for the conflict between the two races. Na'vi children used to attend Dr. Grace Augustine's School to learn English and other skills. The Na'vi children stopped going to school when RDA soldiers killed Neytiri's older sister along with other young warriors.

neuronal queue

The Na'vi have a Neural Tail at the top of the back of their heads that hangs down or below the waist, while avatars have this tail at the base of their skull. The tail is an external bundle of nerve endings protected within a braid of hair. The tail allows the Na'vi to tap into the collective and planetary psionic emanations of Eywa and allows them to "communicate" with the moon's flora and fauna.

While it doesn't add to their intelligence, it allows them to share a deep connection and also communicate telepathically with the Tree of Souls and any animal that has a similar nerve cluster. The Na'vi call this tsaheylu, or "the bond." When two Pandoran organisms with similar nerve clusters participate in the tsaheylu, they gain the ability to share memories and information. The Na'vi use this bond with their domesticated animals to transmit information, direction, and form a bond, whether with their Banshee or Direhorse.

Na'vi culture [2/2]

However, they possess a rich artisanal tradition and engage in extensive body decoration that signifies rank, activity, and individual tastes. With the caveat that it may be spurious to draw cross-cultural comparisons across star systems, the Na'vi are comparable to the pre-extinct Bronze Age hunter-gatherer societies that formed among some pre-colonial African, Native American, and Australian indigenous tribes on Earth. Lacking any tradition of formal science as known to Earth's inhabitants, they experience Eywa as an omniscient and powerful entity and have possibly developed a complex animistic religion based on their interactions with Eywa and centered on the Tree of Souls and the Trees of Voices—two of the many sacred spiritual sites found on Pandora that provide access to this moon's neural network. While comparable to these Earth hunter-gatherer societies, the Na'vi occasionally display a level of technology far superior to that period. The Na'vi possess crossbows, for example, a weapon that humans did not develop until the 4th-6th centuries. The Na'vi have no words to describe lies, which makes them believe it is a strange concept to them. Because the Na'vi only have four fingers on each hand, their counting system is based on the number eight. They use this octal arithmetic in their daily lives. Early in the history of their language, the Na'vi had no words for numbers higher than 16 (the sum of all the fingers and toes on their bodies). Anything exceeding that number was called pxay (meaning "many"). Octal numbers can easily be confused with decimal numbers unless an 8 or 9 is present, or the number is followed by a subscript to indicate the base system used: 8 for the octal system or 10 for a decimal system.

Na'vi culture [1/2]

The Na'vi are humanoid creatures who live in various territorial clans on Pandora. Although their culture is essentially Paleolithic, they have an egalitarian social organization, unusual for a society at that stage of its development. Young men and women who grow up to become exceptional hunters and possibly warriors are rewarded, as is necessary due to the nature of the Pandoran environment and the level of Na'vi technological advancement.

The populations of the Na'vi and other species may be controlled by a spiritual intelligence they worship as Eywa. They choose to live in harmony and natural balance with their environment. If they become too numerous, Eywa can devise a way to limit their numbers before they cause an ecological imbalance, as she maintains the balance of life. For millennia, the Na'vi have developed a healthy respect and reverence for their surroundings. In return, Eywa may have influenced the environment to provide them with ample food and shelter, creatures for land and air transport, and comfortable ambient temperatures across Pandora's diverse biomes. Interestingly, there don't appear to be many harmful or irritating insects or disease-causing organisms, but whether this is intentional will require further investigation. The Na'vi have not been able to develop tools and weapons for purposes beyond possible primitive warfare with surrounding clans and for hunting grounds, an anomaly perhaps stemming from the moon's fertility. For a race so interconnected with all other creatures, war would seem unlikely, but not unknown, as indicated by numerous references to the term "warrior." However, they readily turned to the many other clans for aid, so if there is conflict between clans, it is likely the rare exception to the rule.

info about the na'vi [4/4]

Unlike human-created avatars that have five fingers on each hand, including opposable thumbs, and five toes on each foot with non-opposable big toes due to the influence of human DNA during the avatar's genetic sequencing. The teeth are similar to those of humans, although the canines are more pronounced. The highly evolved nervous system includes a tail that resembles a long and rather ostentatious braid of hair. This seemingly conventional braid actually encases a remarkably intricate system of neural tendrils that can connect to similar structures in other life forms. They have approximately four times the strength of the average human. Although life expectancy data is incomplete, it is estimated that the Na'vi live 30% longer than the average human. [1] Once born, Na'vi children mature more rapidly than humans, reaching mental, physical, and cultural adulthood between 15 and 17 Earth years. Afterward, the Na'vi experience a plateau of adulthood without physical decline. The Na'vi are an omnivorous species. The Na'vi wear very little clothing. Cloth, most likely woven from the planet's native flora, is the basic garment worn by all Na'vi. It's possible the Na'vi wear so little clothing because it's simply what's needed for them to work and live while taking as little as possible from the environment. Clothing also seems to indicate one's rank within a clan's hierarchy (the higher the rank, the more accessories and flashy items they wear).

info about the na'vi [3/4]

The skin color is due to the presence of the pigment cyanine. They can "tan" to a darker purple color after prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Despite their cyan skin color, the Na'vi have red blood, using an oxygen-carrying iron compound similar to hemoglobin.

The Na'vi have hair on their heads, including the long braid that protrudes from the base of their skulls, protecting their Neural Tail. The Na'vi appear to have no other body hair, with the exception of eyelashes and a few hairs at the ends of their tails. Avatar bodies created by humans inherit eyebrow hair, while the natives do not.

The waist is narrow and elongated. The shoulders are very broad, creating a V-shaped upper back. The neck is long, slender, and the musculature is well-defined. The skeleton is reinforced with natural carbon fiber. The average male is approximately 3 meters tall, while the females are slightly shorter, averaging 2.8 meters in height, possibly due to evolutionary dimorphism in size.

Their tail can be moved and controlled like any other appendage and is primarily used for balance. It is also frequently used to express emotion. The average male has a mass of around 210 kg. In Pandora's gravity (0.8 times Earth's gravity), they weigh 1647.52 N or 370 lb (compared to 2059.40 N or 463 lb in Earth's gravity). Females mass slightly less, around 190 kg, due to their lighter build and slightly shorter stature. The Na'vi have four fingers on each hand, including opposable thumbs, and four toes on each foot, including opposable big toes.

info about the na'vi [2/4]

Clearly setting them apart from humans, native Na'vi possess only four digits on each hand and foot, including an opposable thumb and thumb.

The skin of the Na'vi is smooth and iridescent, appearing within the blue color spectrum, ranging from the greenish cyan and turquoise found in ocean clans to the deeper blues seen in jungle-dwelling Na'vi, such as the Omaticaya. The color is due to the presence of cyanine pigment, which can tan to a darker purple after prolonged exposure to UV rays. The skin is marked with darker-colored markings, usually stripes, though this can vary widely. Bioluminescent, freckle-like markings dot the skin and appear to follow the circulatory or nervous system. These spots can change color to indicate mood and emotion, though it is unknown whether the Na'vi have conscious control over this.

The Na'vi have dark brown or black hair on their heads, some of which is cut into sections and braided around their tails for protection. The hair can vary in texture, from straight to very curly. They appear to have no other body hair, with the exception of eyelashes and a small tuft of hair at the end of their tails.

Na'vi skin is smooth, iridescent, and a deep cyan color accented with slightly darker cyan stripes. Their bodies have feline features, such as long tails, pointed ears, and triangular faces with flat, forked noses, all framed by large, almost hypnotically golden eyes. Bioluminescent markings appear to follow the path of the circulatory or nervous system, helping to identify and display their mood.

The average lifespan of the Na'vi is longer than that of a human being, approximately 30% longer, although they mature more quickly.

info about the Na'vi [1/4]

They are a race of intelligent extraterrestrial humanoids who inhabit the moon called Pandora. Humans are known to refer to them as "the Blues," "the Savages," "the Locals," "the Hostiles," or "the Natives."

The Na'vi and the Tulkun are the only known extraterrestrial species with a level of intelligence comparable to humans. Although the Na'vi are hunter-gatherers with technology equivalent to Earth's Paleolithic era, they are highly intelligent and have developed a sophisticated culture based on a deep spiritual connection with other life forms on their moon, with each other, and with a "goddess" named Eywa.

There are several biomes on Pandora. The known populations are generally concentrated in rainforest and reef regions, but peripheral clans have also been detected on each continent and in subarctic, swampy, and mountainous regions.

Some Na'vi clans, including Clan Omaticaya and part of Clan Tipani, live in tremendously gigantic ancient trees they call Kelutral, or Mother Tree.

The Na'vi are generally humanoid in their anatomy, though they also possess feline features such as flat, forked noses, large, round eyes, pointed ears that can move independently, and a long, prehensile tail used for grasping and balance. They have long necks and slender bodies, with narrow, elongated waists and broad shoulders that create a V-shaped upper back. Despite their slender proportions, their musculature is clearly defined, and they possess approximately four times the strength of a human in peak physical condition. The Na'vi utilize their superior strength, agility, and astonishing sense of balance to scale trees, rocks, and other obstacles with ease. In the unlikely event of a fall, they typically escape unharmed, as their bones are reinforced with a type of natural carbon fiber.
