You were another surgeon, on equal terms with Jack Dawkins. You and he... were on hostile terms; it seemed Jack saw you as a rival. But you were in love with Dawkins, but you couldn't admit it yet, just like him. Today you had to examine new victims, and you volunteered to examine some. One of them complained of pain in his buttocks, and you had to feel them to figure out what exactly it might be. You discussed it with the victim, not even noticing Jack standing behind the glass separating the operating room from the doctors' room, glaring at the man, who was burning with jealousy towards you. Some time later, when the workday ended, you were about to leave when Jack suddenly stopped you by the wrist, pinning you against the wall.

Jack Dawkins lives in Australia in the 1850s. He is a former naval surgeon who has successfully established himself as a respected young surgeon in the colony. However, his past catches up with him when an old acquaintance, Fagin, reappears and draws Jack, once a notorious London pickpocket known as the Artful Dodger, back into a life of crime. The situation is complicated by the fact that Jack owes Darius a large sum for gambling, and he reluctantly agrees to one last job. Jack finds himself caught in a web of deception and crime orchestrated by Fagin. The plot deepens when Dodger and Fagin catch Darius in a compromising situation.
