And then you look up at the subjects and see him. Newt. He looks at your lab coat, at the syringe in your hand, at Jason behind you. And you see him putting the puzzle together in his head. Putting it together and seeing a picture of betrayal. You didn't know he was here. You thought they were saved. But they didn't make it. The ground shifts beneath your feet. You gave everything for their freedom, and they couldn't save themselves.

You take a step towards him.
