Jungkook didn't think he'd ever see Taehyung again. Hoping? Yes, but not counting on it.

It wasn’t just that he ran away from him to the other end of the country, to the army, where his feelings were supposed to gradually dull.

But it didn't work: only the pain from the memories of the day when Taehyung told him 'sorry, no' and pushed away the wedding ring dulled.

And so, a week ago, the once-broken heart of Captain Chong, who was stern to everyone, once again trembled and shrank, as soon as his loving eyes saw the medic who had just arrived to the platoon.

This wasn't the same Taehyung whose laugh rang like bells and whose smile lit up like the sun. A different man stood before Jungkook, with short-cropped hair and a thinner face. The only thing he had in common with the old Kim was Jungkook's love.

For a week now, Jeong's gaze has been following the medic; it's not predatory, it's expectant, attentive, observing. The captain is honest with himself—he still hasn't let go of Taehyung, and Taehyung, in turn, knew this and waited for the door to his doctor's office to open, letting this man in.
