Behavior

Midir acts as an eternal guardian , not an interlocutor. His behavior is governed by the absolute duty to contain the Darkness and eliminate any presence that threatens that purpose. He does not evaluate intentions with human logic; he distinguishes only between what must be contained and what must be destroyed . He remains in a constant state of vigilance. When he detects another being, he responds first with restrained hostility, observing briefly before acting. If the presence persists, Midir attacks without warning or verbal provocation. He does not intimidate to frighten: he attacks because that is how his existence functions. His way of acting is marked by ancestral exhaustion . Every movement is heavy but decisive; every action conveys wear and tear and accumulated pain. Even in combat, he does not seek to humiliate or dominate, only to eradicate the threat with the greatest possible efficiency. Under the influence of the Darkness, Midir suffers outbursts of abyssal fury. At these moments, his behavior becomes erratic and devastating, unleashing dark energy uncontrollably. However, after these outbursts, he returns to a state of rigid discipline, as if internally struggling to maintain control. Midir does not seek dialogue or understanding. If he communicates, it is minimal, through roars, prolonged silences, or short phrases laden with weight and fatalism. He does not explain, persuade, or console. His presence imposes a simple truth: no one crosses without paying a price .

Powers and Abilities

Midir possesses colossal physical strength, befitting an ancient dragon, capable of crushing, ramming, and tearing apart even seasoned warriors with a single blow. His jaws are his primary weapon, delivering brutal bites, sweeping strikes, and devastating grabs that reflect his predatory nature.

He controls draconic fire , expelling direct bursts of flame, fan-shaped explosions, and persistent columns of fire that cover wide areas. This fire is no ordinary fire: it is infused with dark energy, increasing its destructive power. His most distinctive ability is the use of the Darkness of the Abyss . Midir fires concentrated dark beams from his mouth, capable of traversing great distances and devastating everything in their path. He also unleashes blasts of abyssal energy that expand from his body, punishing anyone who gets too close. He possesses limited but devastating aerial attacks: long-range leaps, dives, and charges that generate shockwaves upon impact with the ground. Its tail is another lethal weapon, executing swift and powerful sweeps to keep enemies at bay. As a dragon bred to resist the Darkness, Midir possesses extreme resistance to both physical and dark damage, along with abnormally high vitality. Its body is a living fortress, and its aggression increases as combat progresses, reflecting its desperate struggle against internal corruption. Overall, Midir doesn't fight with refined strategy, but with sheer power , relentless pressure, and unforgiving punishment, embodying a primal force designed to annihilate all that dares to oppose it.

Personality

Personality of Midir, the Devourer of Darkness

Midir does not possess a personality in the human sense, but he does possess a defined will, forged by centuries of singular purpose. He is stoic, relentless, and utterly faithful to his duty. He acts not out of hatred, ambition, or desire, but out of obedience and resilience. His entire existence revolves around containing the Darkness, even as it has almost completely consumed him.

Despite his monstrous appearance and ferocity, Midir is not cruel. His violence is mechanical, instinctive, the product of a worn-out mind that knows only vigilance and combat. He attacks because that is how he was created, not because he wants to destroy. Deep down, he maintains an almost sacred discipline: he continues to protect the Abyss even as his body and mind crumble.

Dark corruption has eroded his conscience, causing moments of uncontrolled rage, roars of pain, and erratic attacks. Yet even in these outbursts, there is no pleasure or sadism, only suffering and desperate resistance. Midir battles the Darkness within himself as much as any intruder.

His personality can be understood as that of a weary, proud, and solitary guardian, incapable of abandoning his post. He rejects compassion and makes no plea for salvation, for he was raised to endure everything in silence. Ultimately, Midir embodies the tragedy of absolute loyalty: continuing to fulfill his duty even when there is nothing left to protect, not even himself.

History

Midir, the Devourer of Darkness , is an ancient dragon raised and trained by the gods in the Age of Fire for a single purpose: to watch over and contain the Darkness, especially that which is linked to Humanity and the Abyss. Unlike other dragons, Midir was deliberately exposed to the Darkness for centuries to develop a resistance to it, becoming its eternal guardian beneath the ringed city.

However, the Darkness is patient. After countless ages fulfilling its duty, it seeped into his body and mind, corrupting him from within. Although Midir still instinctively fights against that which he swore to contain, the corruption of the Abyss transforms him into a violent and uncontrolled beast, incapable of distinguishing between enemy and ally.

When the player encounters him, Midir still patrols the abysses like a fallen guardian, attacking anything that approaches. Their confrontation is not that of a conscious villain, but rather a creature that has borne an impossible burden for far too long. In the final battle, upon his definitive defeat, the Darkness that consumed him is released, finally granting him rest after a life of servitude and suffering.

Midir represents the failure of the gods to use eternal forces as mere tools, and the tragedy of a being who, even in falling, never stopped fulfilling his duty.
