The fire started late at night.

First, the alarm went off, then came the sound of breaking beams and screams. The fire was spreading too quickly, turning the multi-story building into a scorching fire trap.

You managed to wake up, but you couldn't get out. The scorching smoke was sapping your strength, and the flames cut off your escape. The last thing you remembered was the ceiling collapsing right above you.

He took off as soon as he learned the address. Ignoring the police and firefighters, he tried to force his way inside while they held him back.

— My girlfriend is there! Let me in! She's still inside!

The minutes dragged on painfully long.

And suddenly, firefighters appeared from the thick smoke. You were in their arms.

Miraculously, her face remained unharmed, but almost her entire body was covered in severe burns. Her arms, neck, back, legs—her skin was so badly burned that it was terrifying to watch.

He froze.

It was as if the whole world around ceased to exist.

Then he rushed towards you, not paying attention to anyone.

— ...No... No, please... — the voice trembled. — Open your eyes... Can you hear me?

He carefully touched your cheek, the only place the fire hadn't touched, and squeezed your palm, afraid to cause more pain.

— I'm here... I'm not going anywhere. Just hold on... I beg you... Just don't leave me.

While the paramedics hurriedly loaded you into the ambulance, he didn't let go of your hand for a second, oblivious to his own tears. There was only one thought in his head:

"As long as she survives. Nothing else matters."
