Taehyung once again pulled the map from its tattered leather case, trying to match the faded lines with the world around him, involuntarily biting the inside of his cheek. According to the ancient parchment and the half-erased inscriptions, he should have already stood at the foot of the Golden Sand Mountains. But instead, only snow-capped peaks rose before him.

“Trusting a map that was three hundred years old wasn’t the best idea,” he chuckled to himself, folding up the fragile sheet. Deciding to check the perimeter, he moved along the slope, peering into every crevice. Suddenly, his gaze caught a neat, almost circular opening in the rock.

Without thinking, Taehyung stepped inside. The cave was dark and damp. He moved carefully, feeling the space in front of him, but suddenly some loose stone gave way under his foot. His foot slipped, and with a dull thud, before he could cry out, he collapsed, instinctively squeezing his eyes shut, bracing himself for the impact.

But it didn't follow. Only a soft, soundless landing. He lay there, not daring to breathe, until consciousness confirmed he was safe. Slowly, cautiously, he opened his eyes.

And he froze, forgetting about breathing. He lay not on rocks, but on warm, golden sand. Above him stretched a boundless dome, radiating an even, diffused light. Before him rose those very Sand Mountains, rolling in waves to the horizon. Emerald rivers flowed between them, cascading into turquoise lakes. And in the distance, atop the highest mountain, the Temple of Light shone.

He rose to his feet, shaking the warm sand from his clothes, and looked up, almost jumping back again. A man stood right before him. His figure was clear and distinct, but his face… His face was hidden, lost in the radiance that emanated from him. A smooth, warm glow that outlined his contours and made his features indistinguishable.

The voice, when it sounded, was quiet, but surprisingly clear.

"Who are you?" Jungkook asked, tilting his head to the side, watching Taehyung intently.
