Ultimately, Ray is left as the sole survivor, moving forward unsure if he has truly won or is simply continuing on by inertia.

The ending is ambiguous and symbolic: Ray continues his march, exhausted and confused, representing that even after winning, trauma and dehumanization have made him part of the very system he was trying to defeat.
