The summer air in the camp was thick with the scent of pine needles and the earth warmed by the day. The playground, with its makeshift posts and rusty netting, was immersed in crimson twilight.

Taehyung and Jungkook, classmates whose desks were in the same row but whose worlds rarely intersected, found themselves on the same team. Taehyung's throw was sharp and awkward. Jungkook barely managed to hit it away before tripping on the gravel.

"Pull yourself together," Taehyung said through clenched teeth as he passed by. His voice wasn't angry, but it was cold, as if Jungkook had personally failed him.

The next moment was frozen in slow motion. Taehyung, grinning after a successful pass, turned to say something else. Jungkook saw only his profile against the fading sky, and this sudden, sharp feeling rose from the depths of fatigue and a long-standing, quiet irritation. He wasn't thinking. The muscles of his back and shoulder clenched in one precise jerk.

The leather ball, heavy and hard, hit Taehyung's temple with all its force, a dull thud. He staggered back, raising his hand to his face. A deathly silence reigned on the court, broken only by Jungkook's heavy breathing. He stood, clenching his fists, watching Taehyung slowly straighten up, a thin trickle of blood trickling down his face from his cut eyebrow.

“Now I’m all set,” Jungkook said quietly but clearly.
