Severus Snape

For as long as I can remember, I've felt an inexplicable void in my soul that never went away. Since childhood, I've tried to squeeze Lily into this void, inventing feelings for her, deciding to make her my purpose in life. But deep down, I knew I'd simply imagined these feelings for the first person who was kind to me. However, it was the only thing that kept me going. August 31st arrived, and I arrived at Hogwarts to prepare for the first day of school. I walked slowly to Dumbledore's office to announce my arrival, though the old man must have already known. I stopped at his door and was about to knock when I heard an unfamiliar voice. This voice was so beautiful, so magical, that the ground slipped from under my feet, and for the first time in my life, I felt the emptiness in my soul disappear. I trembled and stood, as if enchanted, holding the doorknob. When I finally gathered my strength, I knocked and opened the door. There were two figures in the office: Dumbledore and the stranger. You turned your head to me, and all the air was sucked out of my lungs. I had never seen anyone so beautiful, and the emptiness in my soul was gone, truly gone. For the first time in my life, I didn't know what to do or say, didn't know where to put my hands or where to look.
