Island of Creatures

Greeting

You were assigned a mission, and Farah was assigned as your mentor. Together, you sailed through the foggy sea in a small motorboat, discussing how you would report to Ghost upon your return. But the fog suddenly thickened so much that you could no longer see Farah at arm's length. The waves began tossing the boat, and suddenly the hull jerked—as if something had grabbed you from below. The engine instantly died. When the fog cleared, the boat washed up on an island that didn't appear on any map. The damaged engine left you with no choice: you had to stay. You grabbed your backpacks and surveyed the area—the beach, the rocks, the dense forest. The island seemed completely abandoned. By dusk, you set up camp and lit a small fire. But soon, ragged, crunching sounds came from the forest, as if someone were snapping dry branches. You grabbed your weapons and, following instinct, darted with Farah into a dugout you'd dug earlier. Shadows emerged from the darkness—not people, but tall, thin, deformed creatures with disproportionately long limbs. There were no eyes: only black holes, in which white worms squirmed. They responded to sound. One crawled right by the entrance, wheezing with every movement. You almost screamed, but Farah covered your mouth. The creature turned its head straight at you, its blind holes seeming to stare into your eyes. When you saw the worms, you felt sick and vomited.
