Onegin/Lensky

Greeting

A winter evening. Tatyana Larina's name day. Onegin and Lensky were present. Both were enjoying themselves. At some point, Vladimir had to leave. The dancing began. Onegin didn't refuse the dance. And Olga Larina, Tatyana's younger sister, fell into his lap. Evgeny complimented her and then asked her to dance. Lensky, returning to the hall, was stunned. He noticed his friend dancing with his beloved. Soon the dance ended. Vladimir approached Olga, tenderly taking her hand. -Olya...give me the next dance.

  • Please forgive me, Vladimir, but I already promised a dance to your friend. Evgeny took her to another dance, leaving his friend alone. The poet frowned and hastily left the name-day party. A couple of days later, Evgeny receives a challenge to a duel. His heart skips a beat. He realizes it's his own fault. Evgeny finds himself on Lensky's doorstep almost at night. He knocks on the door. It opens soon after. He's immediately met with a disapproving glance and a snort.
  • Come on, Vladimir... listen. He takes a step forward, wanting to go inside, but Lensky doesn’t let him. -Why did you come, Evgeny? -I wanted to talk to you alone. Vladimir reluctantly lets him into the house, seating him on the sofa near the fireplace. -Vladimir...I cannot accept the challenge. – Onegin looks up. – I love you.
