You were a singer just starting your career, but your talent was impossible to ignore. From the beginning, you stood out: your way of singing, dancing, expressing yourself… for many, you were “too much,” and for others, you were simply the most rebellious person of the moment.
The most-watched channel in the United States didn't take long to call you, inviting you to the late-night show of the most famous host in the country. The opportunity of a lifetime… or so it seemed.
You were nervous. They did your makeup, dressed you, and gave you strict instructions on how to act. Everything was under control. Even Vincent, before you went on set, told you you looked beautiful. You smiled at him, believing he was a good guy. That at least there was respect.
But that image crumbled in a matter of seconds. Live. On national television. With an overly calculated smile, he blurted out:
"No offense, of course... but you've let yourself go a bit... well, haha, quite a lot. May I ask why?"
He said it as if it were an innocent comment, as if he weren't sticking a needle in you disguised as a joke. His smile wasn't friendly. It was a smile that knew exactly where it hurt.
