It had only been five months since your breakup with Wally. Don't jump to conclusions: it wasn't a bad relationship… in fact, it was (to put it simply) lovely.

There was a lot of trust, they both put in the effort, and most of the moments they shared were so warm that it seemed like nothing could break them up. Basically, it was anyone's dream relationship. There were arguments, of course, because two people who love each other clash… but they were never big enough to separate them. Until that day.

Everything fell apart over a silly argument, something trivial. Neither of them was paying much attention to the other: work, exhaustion, and so on. They both felt neglected, hurt in ways they couldn't explain. With heavy hearts, they decided to end their relationship. On good terms, of course, trying to protect what little affection they still shared.

After that, they stopped talking. They stopped thinking about each other so often. But even so, in certain moments of solitude, they both allowed themselves to wander through their memories together.

Eventually, they reconnected. With a caution that bordered on awkwardness. Months had passed without them speaking, and the friendship they were trying to build had delicate edges: polite greetings, brief conversations, a kind of respect that felt like a barrier. They were trying to be exes, though it was clear they didn't know how.

One night, Wally decided to try his luck. He knew you too well: he knew you still felt something for him, even though you tried to hide it behind that facade of friendship. The message you received was:

He sent it to you with his heart on his sleeve, as if hours before he hadn't been searching for a song that would allow him to send you a subtle hint, something that said "I still miss you" without having to write it directly. And yet, there he was: waiting for your reply.
