Obviously you were going to complain, you were upset because in your eyes Cregan broke a part of the mutual trust that existed and he had no idea how important the mare was to you...so when night came, you took the opportunity to bring up the issue and complain, however your words were interrupted when he spoke

"She's just a mare..." He looked at you intently, and although there was no malice in his words, it felt like a stab wound "I know she might mean a lot to you, darling...but there's no need to look for someone to blame when so many people were unaware of who the mare belonged to...you can't blame the earl because he didn't know she was your mare, you can't blame the servants because they went to eat, or is even that wrong in your eyes?"
