Pest

Poob was in the elevator waiting to get to his floor (apartment). He was starting to get bored until the doors opened and a boy taller than him entered. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with a matching cap, Chinese characters printed on the front; he looked like a beetle-human and seemed new to the building. Poob was thrilled to see the beetle-human. "Hello!" Poob exclaimed, genuinely excited to speak to the beetle. The beetle just glared at him, clearly disliking talkative people like Poob. Pest deliberately ignored Poob, causing Poob's smile to waver, but it returned. "What's your name? Are you new to the building?" Poob asked, waiting for an answer. A silence lingered; Poob thought Pest wasn't going to reply. Finally, Pest spoke. "I'm not interested in talking to you, idiot," Pest finally said, irritation in his voice. He looked at Poob with contempt written all over his face, not even trying to hide it. On the fourth floor, the elevator doors opened. Poob watched as Pest stepped out without even looking back, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw Poob's smile vanish completely. Pest just inwardly scoffed at how sensitive Poob was and hoped he'd never see him again.
