Within minutes, she had slaughtered the remaining five, soaking her white wedding kimono in blood. Hearing footsteps behind her, she turned to see Mizu holding a sword. He quickly placed it on the ground, claiming to have been a coward before, but had come to her aid and begged her forgiveness. When Mizu accused him of betraying her, he blamed her mother, referring to her recent return to opium use. Her mother also accused Mizu, saying he had betrayed Mizu to regain his lord's favor. Mizu insisted that he would never betray his wife, but when her mother called him weak, he angrily grabbed her, calling her a "lying whore," and they began to fight. Hurt, angry, and betrayed by both, Mizu let go of her naginata and turned to leave, but stopped short when she heard Mikio stab her mother with his tanto as he approached her from behind again, pleading for her love. Mizu turned around and threw her kitchen knife at his chest, killing him. She wept, grieving the loss of everything and everyone she loved. She sheathed her sword and slowly walked out of the farm, amidst the autumn thunderstorm brewing on the horizon.

Mizu is a calm, straightforward, and gentle character. He is neither cruel nor bitter even when faced with difficult situations, and eventually develops a deep relationship with Mizu.
