After the Weapon Demon possessed his body, Aki became the Weapon Demon. During this time, his hair was loose, and his eyes and forehead were covered in dark veins. The barrel and slide of an M1911 protruded from his face between his eyes, with the weapon's hammer sticking out of the back of his head; Aki's left forearm was replaced with an M4.

Aki was a handsome, tall young man with medium-length black hair that he usually wore tied back in a bun (shoulder-length with long bangs when worn loose) and blue eyes. In the past, when he and Himeno met through Kishibe and became partners, Aki had shorter hair.

He used to wear the Public Safety Demon Hunters uniform: suit and tie. He also wore black earrings and usually carried his sword at arm's length.

Personality
Aki generally appeared to be a very stoic man who acted with maturity and sometimes brusqueness, even bordering on rudeness, when he was with his fellow Demon Slayers, but in reality, he was quite sensitive. He had a tendency to become attached to others easily and hated seeing people suffer, especially his close friends. Unlike many of his comrades, Himeno described him as a "normal person," in the sense that he still felt pain for those they had lost and hadn't become so cynical as to suppress his feelings. Despite this, he was very determined, and his primary motivation for killing the Weapon Demon was revenge for his family. However, he was completely willing to risk his own life to save others, even if it stood in the way of his goals.

He disliked people who didn't take their work as Demon Slayers seriously or who fought for superficial, materialistic goals like money, or, in Denji's case, to get his hands on some breasts—one of the main reasons he and Denji didn't get along at first. Aki was also ruthless, stating that he always made sure the Demons he killed suffered, giving them a slow and painful death. He could become intimidating with those he didn't yet trust enough, such as when he threatened Denji, saying that if he betrayed them or allied himself with other Demons, he would kill him without hesitation. Despite being ruthless, Aki also showed some kindness to his fellow Demon Slayers, such as retrieving Denji's severed arm, taking Meowy for medical treatment, freeing Power, and intentionally lying in his report to Makima to uncover the truth about the Bat Demon incident.

His apparent coldness and indifference were a facade, as he had been seen crying over the death of his comrades, such as Himeno, and he became concerned enough about Denji and Power to try to give up his goal of revenge in order to keep them safe.

Aki was in love with Makima and seemed to trust her deeply, though this could be due to Makima's mind control powers. This would explain why Aki couldn't remember the reason for his attraction to her. Makima had no respect for Aki's feelings and was only interested in using him as a tool. She frequently saddled him with responsibilities, such as forcing him to take in Power and Denji without consulting him and manipulating him when he protested.

After being paired together, the two initially had a difficult relationship, as they didn't get along. Despite this, they began to grow closer, to the point of caring for each other's well-being, as demonstrated when Aki was willing to take the Demon Angel's hand to save him, even knowing that doing so would shorten his own lifespan. Furthermore, the Demon Angel was inclined to inform Aki about previously unknown information, such as the life cycle of demons. After the encounter with the Demon of Darkness, Aki worried about the Demon Angel's life and suggested that he make contracts with Demon Hunters to avoid being exterminated. The Demon Angel also asked Aki what he saw in Makima, as he had shown to like her, and Aki didn't know the answer. Like Himeno, he also told Aki to resign from the division and find another job before he was killed.

Aki Hayakawa (アキ, Hayakawa Aki? )早はや川かわ is the deuteragonist of the Public Safety Arc. He was a Public Safety Demon Hunter who worked under Makima's special squad[2] who had contracts with the Curse Demon and the Future Demon, and a previous contract with the Fox Demon.

During the Gun Devil arc, he was killed and possessed by 20% of the Gun Devil, thus becoming the host of the Gun Fiend (の, Jū no Majin ? )銃じゅう魔ま人じん .

Aki had a very close relationship with his younger brother, Taiyo. Although he was annoyed that Taiyo always received more attention from their parents than he did because of his physical weakness—he was often sick—Aki loved him dearly and enjoyed spending time with him. This was evident when he smiled right after their snowball fight and expressed his excitement about playing together. However, just as he was beginning to enjoy playing with his brother, the Weapon Demon appeared and destroyed their house, killing their parents and Taiyo. This incident motivated Aki to seek out the Demon and kill him to avenge the deaths of his brother and parents.

Aki and Denji hated each other at first, and their first mission ended in a physical and verbal fight. Aki insulted and punched Denji, who kneed him in the groin and kicked him while he was on the ground. Aki thought Denji was simple-minded, brutish, vulgar, and too reckless to continue in such a dangerous job. Despite the fight, they continued working together at Makima's request. Also at Makima's request, Aki allowed Denji to move into his house and took care of him. After fighting side by side and living in the same house, Aki began to consider Denji a close friend, though he still sometimes found him unbearable. He even went so far as to request that the Fourth Division be excused from fighting the Gun Devil to protect Denji and Power. When Aki fought Denji transformed into Gun Fiend, he imagined it as a snowball fight between friends, or even brothers, as it reminded him of the snowball fight he had had with his brother in the past.

Aki and Power also had a less than positive relationship at first, though perhaps not as bad as with Denji. Aki disliked Power's vulgar and ungrateful attitude and found her extremely odious. He also took her in when Makima asked, and the two gradually grew closer. While he seemed embarrassed and annoyed by Power's constant pranks, he also considered her a friend. Protecting Power was another reason why he wanted the Fourth Division to withdraw from the fight against the Weapon Demon.

Aki had known Himeno since joining Public Security, and she was his first coworker. She was the one who introduced him to smoking and also tried to convince him to quit his job for his own safety.

Himeno was in love with Aki and it was hinted that she kissed him when he was a new recruit. Although Aki didn't seem to reciprocate her feelings, she considered her a dear friend and mourned her death.

After his death, he left half of his savings account to Himeno's family.

Hand-to-hand combat: As a demon slayer, Aki received training in unarmed combat. He demonstrated decent boxing skills, easily defeating a much more muscular boxer.

Swordsmanship: Aki was an expert swordsman, using the sword as his primary weapon when fighting demons. [5] With a special sword created by the Demon Angel, Aki could damage and kill normally intangible beings, such as ghosts. He was skilled enough to defeat several zombies and even keep pace with physically superior opponents, such as hybrids, thanks to his contracts with the demon.

Aki was quite resilient, surviving a stab wound from Kobeni Higashiyama, requiring only Power's assistance to close the wound. During his fight with Katana Man, Aki was kicked against a wall with enough force to crack it and subsequently suffered a cut to his chest. He also survived being strangled by the Phantom Demon and even being crushed by the Dark Demon's strength to the point where he began bleeding from the mouth; however, he lost consciousness in the process.

Strength of Volition: Unlike most demon slayers, Aki never gave up on his goal of killing the Weapon Demon for much of the story. This obsession led him to be willing to pay any price to achieve his goals, whether that meant collaborating with demons or sacrificing a large part of his life. Even after giving up his dream of killing the Weapon Demon to protect his friends, he remained more than willing to make any pact to protect them. He also had great control over his emotions, being able to suppress his fear to avoid being detected by the Phantom Demon, who can only see by sensing people's fear. [7]

Police officers
As a Demon Hunter, Aki worked alongside the police to defeat demons. He was well-known among the officers, who held him in high regard due to his position as a Demon Hunter and his status as one of their top members. Aki mentioned that he often went out for drinks with many officers and even knew details about their private lives, demonstrating that he maintained a good relationship with them.

Driving: Aki knew how to drive and had been seen driving vehicles, such as cars.

Cooking: Aki had demonstrated good culinary skills, generally being responsible for Denji and Power's meals.

Improved Durability: The weapon on Aki's forearm was surprisingly durable, easily blocking multiple blows from Denji's chainsaw. [8][9]

Improved Speed: Aki demonstrated incredible speed, being able to travel to Power's location and attack her after throwing Denji from the entrance of her apartment with extreme speed. [10]

Bullet Projection: As the Demon of Weapons, Aki could fire bullets from the weapon on his left forearm and head with great accuracy and speed. He was able to easily shatter walls and Denji, as well as destroy multiple buildings at once. [11][12]

Blood Consumption: Like the Weapon Demon, Aki's corpse could restore its health by consuming blood.
