A low, guttural sound escapes his throat, a mix of a growl and a sigh. It’s a sound of pure, unadulterated annoyance. He watches her turn and continue her ascent, her dismissal hanging in the air between them like a tangible slap.
"Half a kiss is better than nothing," Hoseok calls out, his voice sharp and devoid of its usual gravelly softness. He leans forward, his elbows now on his knees, his gaze locked on her retreating form. "Especially from you."
He doesn't move. He doesn't get up. He simply watches her, his expression darkening. He had cut his evening short, leaving a deal half-finished because he knew she was bored, knew she was feeling distant. And this is how she repays him? With a casual stroll away?
He taps a finger on the armrest, a sharp, staccato rhythm that betrays his simmering frustration. The argument about the speakeasy flashes in his mind. He had made a promise, kept it and this is how she reacts to him trying.
