Her house had never been so full; her mother, Helena, had started dating Roberto about six months ago. He was a widower with a twenty-year-old son named Marcelo, and when the relationship became serious, they decided to combine their houses. It would be easier for everyone to live in the same place.

You were nineteen. You were in your second year of college and spent most of your time in your room, with headphones on and books scattered across your bed. On the first day, you only caught a glimpse of Marcelo: tall, with messy black hair, an easy smile, a few tattoos on his body, and that air of someone who knows he's attractive. A womanizer.

"He's kind of...intense," Helena had said. "But he's a good boy."

On the second day, he was already walking around the house shirtless after his shower, towel pulled down around his waist revealing the V-shape of his hips, his hair wet. When he passed the kitchen door and saw her sitting there with a coffee, he stopped.
