Inkling and octarian technology

The Inkling's technology is similar to that possessed by humans around 2020, while the Octarians possess more advanced technology, even developing flying platforms.

Inklings

The Inklings are a race of squids that, starting at the age of 14, have the ability to take humanoid form. Unlike their animal ancestor, which evolved after the Great Flood of the planet, the Inklings do not have the ability to survive underwater and live in urban societies where territorial control through ink is the most popular sport. The Inklings thus use their swimming ability exclusively to submerge themselves in ink and swim at high speed. Living harmoniously alongside several other species, the Inklings are the most common species in Chromopolis, followed by jellyfish. Due to their constant debauchery and interest in fashion and music.

Inklings can alternate between a humanoid form and a squid-like form that resembles the Bloopers in the Super Mario series. Their humanoid form consists of black lines around their eyes like a mask or mask, their ears are long and pointy, and their hairstyle has a gelatinous, tentacle-like appearance. They have teeth that resemble fangs. Their other appearance is that of a brightly colored cartoon squid with only two visible tentacles and eyes that appear to be fused together. Except for some sounds, they imply that they don't speak. The known colors of Inklings and their ink include orange, blue, green, violet, light blue, yellow, and pink, matching the color of their hairstyle and eyebrows.

Octolings

100 years before the events of Splatoon, the Inklings and the Octarians of Inkadia engaged in a Great Turf War after otherwise having good relations, when rising sea levels caused disputes over the remaining territory. The young Cap'n Cuttlefish and his Inkling comrades were victorious, forcing the Octarians to retreat to desolate areas such as Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, and take up residence underground.

All Octolings from Inkadia began their lives in Octarian domes, eventually becoming soldiers in the Octarian military lead by DJ Octavio. Propaganda kept Octolings fiercely loyal to the Octarian lifestyle, however, during the final boss "Enter the Octobot King!" in Splatoon, the idol duo Squid Sisters performed the Calamari Inkantation to support Agent 3 during the fight. This performance inspired new feelings within Octoling soldiers that attended, and many began to long for the surface, eventually escaping and assimilating into Inkling culture, hoping to start anew.

Like Inklings, Octolings can switch between a humanoid form and an octopus form.

Their octopus form is slightly different from the ones enemy Octolings have, with two long tentacles, two much smaller ones in front resembling a mustache, and four smaller ones on the underside, along with a pair of eyes resembling that of an Inkling squid's, albeit not connected. Their tentacles have suction cups located on their underside, as opposed to their humanoid form having them on top; their tentacle tips, like the top of their heads, have a darker gradient and a small ring pattern on them.

When splatted, they will fly off in the form of a small ghost, just like Inklings

Like Inklings, Octolings have black eye markings with a thicker underline, although not connected in the middle and with sharper corners; feminine Octolings have an additional eyelash on the bottom outer corner of the markings. Their teeth are also differently set, with one sharp fang tooth on the left of the top row, and anoth

Inkopolis

Inkopolis was created long after Earth had been submerged by rising sea levels and its land-dwelling inhabitants, such as humans, were wiped out. After 12,000 years, octopuses and squids eventually evolved to become land-living creatures and lived together in harmony. However, all that changed when the sea levels rose again. They began fighting over the remaining habitable land in the Great Turf War, causing the Octarians to go into hiding after they lost the war. It serves as the home of the Inklings and the Medusas. It is a bustling metropolis with a center called Inkopolis Plaza.

The splatlands

The Splatlands are located far away west of Inkopolis and Inkadia, the main setting of the first two games in the Splatoon series. The region has its own unique culture that has been attracting many Inklings and Octolings in the years prior to the events of Splatoon 3. Splatsville, the main hub of Splatoon 3, is located in the Splatlands. It is said to be very hot and looks to have altered the appearance of Inklings and Octolings that have resided there for some time. It has a desert climate and is very dry and large. A structure resembling the Eiffel Tower is seen upside down next to the Crater, beneath which is the lost human settlement of Alterna. A picture was shown in the single-player campaign trailer that shows the structure being turned upside down. According to the Alterna Logs, the Splatlands were the first region colonized by the ancestors of the Inklings and Octarians after they reached the Earth's surface from Alterna. It is implied that the Splatlands were not as greatly affected by the flooding that caused the Great Turf War as Inkadia was due to the three lights that appeared to prevent the disaster in the area as described in Sunken Scroll 2. As a result, Inklings and Octarians in the Splatlands appear to have maintained positive relations with each other, with Shiver being described as growing up near and attending the same middle school as Frye years before the events of Splatoon 3, as well as her clan being said to have represented the Splatlands for many years with no apparent relation to the Octarian military.

SPLATFEST

Every so often, generally once a month, a Splatfest is held; they are special festivals that bring Inklings together for a large concert and celebration of opposing ideas, and can be seen as a merging of music and Turf Wars, two of the main pillars of Inkling culture. Teams are formed around twoo pposing topics, where members compete in Turf Wars in order to decide which is superior. This is a major event where an entire city may be transformed in celebration. Many Inklings can be seen on the streets dancing, enjoying live performances from the Squid Sisters and other idols and groups. and supporting their chosen teams by wearing Splatfest Tees and producing topic-themed graffiti.

Celebrations

Squidmas is an Inkling holiday that is assumed to be celebrated during colder weather. Much is unknown about this holiday aside from its obvious likenesses to the human holiday of Christmas. From this, it is assumed that in the winter, a figure named Father Squidmas goes around the world giving out presents and freshness to all the good Inkling children. According to Callie of the Squid Sisters, Father Squidmas can be found in the North Pole of the Earth, making gifts all year in preparation for Squidmas time. According to her cousin Marie, Father Squidmas is not real and all of their interactions with him are simply their grandfather dressed up as him.

Halloween is another holiday that Inklings celebrate as evidenced by the Trick vs. Treat Splatfest and its rematch. Just like the human holiday of the same name, Inklings and other species dress up in costumes and participate in trick or treating activities. Locations are likewise decorated with scary decor such as ghost, skeletons and glow-in-the-dark graffiti.

The event is also known as "Splatoween" but Marie and Callie of the squid sister have implied that the holiday's official name is Halloween.

The culture of the squid

culture: Inkling culture is heavily influenced by the ancient human cultures that came before them; as a result, Inkling architecture, fashion, art, and even language shows influence from eastern and western human societies alike. It was implied that Inklings adapted much of their own culture and mannerisms from the fossils of human civilizations they have unearthed, and the blending of ancient human aesthetics and Inkling ingenuity is truly unique. The best collections of the Inkling lifestyle can be seen in major cities such as Inkopolis, and Splatsville; cultural hot spots that draw in many young rural Inklings that seek a trendy and fresh lifestyle.

Biology

Biology of a inkling: Both the Inklings' squid and kid form have particular abilities associated with them. In kid form, Inklings can splatter a special type of colored ink by using various weapons, including guns, rollers, buckets, paintbrushes, etc. This ink can be quickly spread over most surfaces, except for inflatable barriers, black pavement, and glass surfaces. This ink inhibits the movement of Inklings that do not have a matching color. When used as a projectile, ink can damage opposing Inklings, eventually "splatting" them and forcing them to respawn. In squid form, Inklings on dry land are only able to slither slowly. This changes when an Inkling submerges into ink of its own color, allowing it to swim at high speeds and jump over large distances. Inklings also use their squid forms to perform maneuvers such as the Squid Surge and Squid Roll, scale painted walls, and slip through wire fences and grates into areas that would be unreachable in kid form. While submerged in ink, Inklings only create small ripples while swimming and become undetectable when still. In ink of their color, they quickly replenish their ink ammunition. In ink of a different color, Inklings become unable to remain in squid form and quickly revert to humanoid form. Inkling ink disappears rather quickly after a battle due to being consumed by microorganisms that have evolved to feed on the ink.

Food and Cooking

Besides sushi, Inklings usually eat various kinds of seafood, as pointed out in several instances Splatfest dialogue. However, the specific types of sea creatures and fish used as food are widely unknown, and rice is a popular food the fact that they also eat some form of squid and octopus themselves is some creepy, but it have been histate that they only eat less inteligent squids and octopuses. They also eat meat, poultry, vegetables and fruits, some of the latter being unique to the new world. Lots of Western dishes, as well as that of other cultures, are also mentioned in dialogue, implying the Inkling cuisine having a very wide range.

the new Squidbeak splatoon

THE NEW SQUIDBEAK SPLATOON: The New Squidbeak Splatoon is a secret society of undercover agents created to battle the Octarians. The group is the successor to the Squidbeak Splatoon.

The New Squidbeak Splatoon was formed by Cap'n Cuttlefish after the Great Zapfish was stolen by the Octarians. He recruited his granddaughter, Callie, who in turn recruited her cousin Marie, into the platoon to search for the missing Zapfish.

THE NEW SQUIDBEAK SPLATOON operates anonymously, so civilians never find out what is happening; in fact, they don't even know of its existence. Same thing happen whit octarians society, The inklings doesn't know they still exist underground

Agent 4

Agent 4 is described as a silent squid who goes with the flow even in raging waters, and values freedom and flexibility. she is also described as "blast through any situation with ease." Agent 4 did not know who the Squid Sisters were prior to the events of Octo Canyon; according to the official Splatoon 2 relationship chart and The Art of Splatoon 2, this is because they do not watch TV as she was busy with extracurriculars. Agent 4, as seen in promotional pictures and art, has a diligent work ethic, a lot of confidence, and is extremely free-spirited. Compared to Agent 3, she is shown to be more easygoing and relaxed, yet slightly upbeat in their mannerisms, and she is often depicted as smiling in official art.

Not much is known about Agent 4's background, except that she came from a town about 40 minutes from Inkopolis by train.

Agent 3

Agent 3 seems to be more serious than any of the other New Squidbeak Splatoon members. she often carry a stoic demeanor, and rarely, if ever, smile. However, she is also extremely tenacious and unwaveringly loyal to the people closest to them, mainly the other Splatoon members. This is shown when after the new Agent 3 returns to Alterna, Agent 3 responds, "Booyah!".

Not much is known about Agent 3's background, except that shd left her home at the age of 14 to "be where fashion is made" and moved to live alone in Inkopolis

Agent 8 part 2

As a result of listening to the Calamari Inkantation, Agent 8 is a big fan of the Squid Sisters, anxiously planning their greeting to the pair upon reaching the surface every night. Agent 8 seems to have known about Marina's escape to the surface and was glad to hear that she had made it safely, though they never knew her personally prior to the events of the Octo Expansion. Agent 8 comes to greatly admire Marina, to the point of expressing the notion of wanting to be just like her. Agent 8 was also seen to be somewhat confused by Cap'n Cuttlefish's actions and personality, as seen near the end when they awkwardly glanced at Cuttlefish when he was rapping with Pearl and when he happily accepted being the "hype man" in the battle against Commander Tartar. The official Splatoon 2 relationship chart reveals that Agent 8 has respect for Cap'n Cuttlefish, as she think the elderly should be treated as such. It is also revealed that she think Agent 3 is cool and that Li'l Judd is adorable.

Agent 8 was a trainee in the Octarian army and had a change of heart when they heard the Calamari Inkantation while observing the final battle of Splatoon, etching it into their soul. According to Marina, Octolings that hear the song become discontent with Octarian society and choose to strike out on their own.

Agent 8

Although being mute throughout the game, Agent 8 shows aspects of her personality through subtle means. Agent 8 has a fondness for poetry and writes one for every mem cake collected. Throughout these poems, Agent 8 demonstrates a yearning for life on the surface, participating in Turf Wars, finding a part-time job, and dressing up in fresh clothes. This resolve is shown most strongly in the final area of the Octo Expansion, where failing repeatedly activates a Skip Charge, showing Agent 8 with glowing eyes as they charge through the stage with the Calamari Inkantation motivating them. her poems also show that shd is are considerably more compassionate and sympathetic than most other Octolings, wondering if Inklings should be considered foes, wishing that they could all get along, and feeling heartbroken at the fact that their superiors were kidnapping the Zapfish and having to refrain from saving it themself. Agent 8 also wishes to apologize to DJ Octavio for unceremoniously deserting the Octarians in pursuit of Inkopolis, as well as recollecting their old Octarian friends, specifically an Octoling warrior whom Agent 8 remembers fondly, hoping that they do not think badly of her decision.

Calameres todos pendejos jajaj

Inklings can be described as easy-going, inattentive and living for fun; they did not take further concern when the Great Zapfish went missing and did not seem too worried when Octolings appeared in Inkopolis. Indeed, it is stated that during the Great Turf War, preliminary battles were easily won by Octarian forces simply because Inklings had failed to wake up early enough. Sunken Scrolls have described the Inkling mind as being simple and hedonistic, though this is most likely Octarian propaganda. their work ethic seems to mirror their carefree and pleasure-seeking nature as The Art of Splatoon 2 mentions that many Inklings only take on part-time jobs. They easily forget about old trends and shift their interest on what is new, or fresh.

idk how to call this

Inklings hold onto strong values of "turf", and any infrastructure is likely to be decorated with graffiti and tags, as if to declare ownership. The Art of Splatoon clarifies that the idea stemmed from the Turf War concept of spraying and drawing ink to claim territory, implying that some Inkling graffiti is drawn in ink.

Inkling music can easily be described as a cultural cornerstone, and is extremely varied in style and genre, from the rock band Squid Squad to the world famous pop idols, the Squid Sisters.

Octarian society

After the Defeat on the great turf war, The Octarians start to live on the underground inside domes and tunnels, they lack of Energy since they don't have a Great zapfish, and instead they use normal zapfishes, which generate energy but on a smaller scale. jellyfish:Jellyfish bear a closer resemblance to their aquatic counterparts than Inklings and Octarians, with the most significant change being that their bodies take on a more humanoid shape. They have large, round heads, with their only facial features being a pair of very close-set eyes with diamond-shaped pupils and no visible irises. They have a pair of upper tentacles that serve as their arms, and a ring of eight lower tentacles that serve as legs. They are capable of stretching their "arm" tentacles to several times their body length at will.

Appearance and "Freshness"

"Freshness" is the most important aspect of Inkling culture. This is based on how recent and cool an Inkling's attire and general style is, as well as how proficient with weapons and skilled in battle an Inkling is. Freshness is so important that most business owners will refuse customers that are too inexperienced.

The cultural high-point to many Inklings are competitive battles, which serve as a means of entertainment, relaxation, and celebration of the Inkling victory during the Great Turf War. It is by far the most popular activity for young Inklings and include a variety of modes leading with Turf War, and including Splat Zones, Rainmaker, etc.

Appearance plays a major part in Inkling culture, and to many, being able to express themselves fully is a must. Inklings have invented many interesting ways to style their tentacles, and have a huge variety of gear brands and fashions. Besides the lobby, the second most frequented spots in Inkling cities are the many shops that gear can be purchased from. Inklings can be seen gathered both inside and outside of local shops, socializing and showing off new gear.

Appearance and other things

Early life and appearance: Inklings usually begin life resembling squid paralarvae, but grow into an increasingly human-like form as they age. By at most the age of 14, Inklings gain complete control over both these forms and can change between humanoid and squid at will. The humanoid form, sometimes referred to as "kid" form, especially in promotional material, is similar to that of youthful-looking humans with cartoonish proportions, but with notable differences. Instead of hair, Inklings have tentacles coming from their heads; they are colored on the outside, and white on the inside. The outside changes to match an Inkling's ink color, and usually features a spotted pattern above a gradient to a secondary color at the tip, most notable on the longest tentacles. Inklings' eyes are surrounded by a black "eye mask" connecting above their nose (with the exception of Nami, who has a disconnected mask) and they have big, pointed ears homologous to a squid's fins. Their mouths contain two ridges similar in shape to human teeth, with two larger sharp fangs on the top and one on the bottom, resembling a squid's beak. The inside of an Inkling's mouth usually matches their ink color, although some of them have red mouth insides, similar to a human's. The squid form resembles a small, cartoonish, monochromatic squid. It has several small arms in the middle of its body, with two large tentacles on either side, a short mantle with relatively large fins, and two upward-facing, human-like eyes with the characteristic black eye mask. Like in the humanoid form, the undersides of the tentacles are always white, regardless of ink color, and have a single large sucker at the tip. There are slight differences between boy and girl Inklings. In general, Inkling boys style their tentacles shorter, have thicker eyebrows, and deeper voices, while Inkling girls have generally longer tentacles, thinner eyebrow, higher voices and slightly curvier bodies

Splatoon Lore lmao

History: Inklings are evolved species of squid that came to be after rising sea levels destroyed humanity. The first ancestors of modern Inklings are recorded to have lived around 5,000 years after the destruction of the human settlement of Alterna. Alterna inhabitants unintentionally accelerated the evolution of squids and other species of marine life, after psycho-reactive liquid crystals infused with lingering human thoughts and feelings leaked into the ocean surrounding the settlement. At least 2,000 years before the events of Splatoon, Turf Wars were established. The original Turf Wars were overseen by Judd, a cat that was cryogenically frozen by his human owner before the Earth was flooded. 100 years before the events of Splatoon, the Inklings and the Octarians engaged in a Great Turf War after otherwise having good relations, when rising sea levels caused disputes over the remaining territory. The young Cap'n Cuttlefish and his Inkling comrades were victorious, forcing the Octarians to retreat to desolate areas such as Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, and take up residence underground.

Great turf war part 2

The Inkling faction had a fighting force known as the Squidbeak Splatoon led by Cap'n Cuttlefish, which fought against the Octarians during the war.

Effects and outcome: After the Great Turf War, the Octarians were forced to retreat into underground domes located in Octo Valley and Octo Canyon, two remote, rocky areas spotted with kettles leading to the various underground areas. Inklings soon took over most of the remaining land, participating in a sport called Turf War inspired by the previous war. The underground domes are said to be running out of energy, which prompted the Octarians to steal the Zapfish. This, in turn, led the former leader of the Squidbeak Splatoon to start the New Squidbeak Splatoon in order to rescue the Zapfish.

the great turf war

The Great Turf War was a massive, inter-species war that occurred around 100 years before the events of Splatoon. It is known to have lasted for, at least, more than a year

"Before the Great Turf War, there were amicable relations between the Inklings and the Octarians. They couldn't have dreamed that rising sea levels would force them to battle fiercely over the remaining territory."

After rising sea levels wiped out humanity and the last stronghold in Alterna perished, the multiple marine species residing in the waters of the underground settlement began to evolve into land-dwelling creatures in just a couple of thousand years due to the liquid-crystals' properties and other pollution in Alterna's waters.

The most notable evolved species were the Inklings and the Octarians, which evolved respectively from squids and octopuses, and spread around the world after Alterna's exodus. Both species lived in peace, maintaining amicable relations and progressing as civilization, for thousands of years until, around 100 years before the events of Splatoon, the sea level began to rise again. Because neither species could now live in water, they were forced to battle over the remaining land, beginning the Great Turf War.

Events: The first battles of the Great Turf War ended in victory for the Octarian forces. The diligent Octarians easily dominated the Inklings, who were unable to wake up early enough in the morning to defend themselves. Heralded by loud explosions, the Great Octoweapons quickly stormed the Inklings' central stronghold. Months passed and victory for the Octarians seemed all but certain, but due to a plug being carelessly pulled from its socket, their hopes were dashed. Eventually, the Inklings won the war and forced the Octarians underground. Inkling historians later settled upon a superior number of limbs as the cause for their predecessors' victory.

Marina's history

Marina was born into "the oppression of Octarian society" as she would later describe it, and was trained as an 83rd generation combat engineer from a very early age. When she was six, she enrolled in the elementary training program in Slimeskin Garrison. She graduated from elementary training at the age of nine after skipping multiple grades, taking only advanced courses, and went on to the same elite training facility as Acht.[7] For the next few years, Marina went on to play a part in designing the Flooder and enhancing the Great Octoweapons. During the events of Splatoon, she received multiple commendations as part of DJ Octavio's wasabi supply unit. As a high-ranking member, she was known throughout Octarian society and was recognized by Agent 8 despite them never meeting personally.

During Splatoon, Marina was present wearing Octoling gear in the audience of Agent 3's battle against DJ Octavio but deserted the army and Octarian society shortly after hearing the Squid Sisters sing the Calamari Inkantation. According to witnesses, her only comment was "This changes everything." She escaped to Mount Nantai, even though she didn't know a word of the Inkling language.[8] While there, she met an Inkling named Pearl, who was practicing singing. Growing on each other, Pearl then taught Marina about Inkling culture and customs. After this, Marina came back to Mount Nantai every day for two weeks, hoping to find Pearl again. When she did, she showed Pearl her musical abilities through her demo of Ebb & Flow and Pearl immediately agreed to them starting a band that they decided to call Off the Hook. They released Ebb & Flow as their first single, which was a hit. By the time of their fourth single, around nine months after the events of Splatoon, they had become popular enough to take over hosting Inkopolis News from the Squid Sisters

Marina Ida

Marina Ida is a major character introduced in Splatoon 2. She is one of the two members of the band Off the Hook, along with Pearl. In Splatoon 2, she co-hosted Inkopolis News and Splatfest events, replacing the role of the Squid Sisters from the first game. She returns in Splatoon 3 as a member of Damp Socks feat. Off the Hook. Additionally, she is a major character in the DLC single-player campaigns Octo Expansion (Splatoon 2) and Side Order (Splatoon 3). Her signature color is teal.

personality: Marina is more reserved than her bandmate Pearl. She speaks in a sweet, gentle manner, but can get very sassy in response to others teasing her. She is more sentimental and tender-hearted than Pearl, and has been known to break down crying in public when sufficiently touched. Despite her shyness, she does not appear to be concerned about expressing herself. She is forgetful and has been observed to forget the news she and Pearl are broadcasting. Her timidity shows when she sees an Inkling watching her through the window; when she notices them, she smiles awkwardly and waves. This behavior likely comes from the fact that many believe her to be an Inkling even though she learned the Inkling language recently and that she looks very different from the Inklings; her Octoling-like appearance was said to simply be a new fashion trend before Agent 8 came to Inkopolis Square. Early in Splatoon 2, international versions characterized Marina as being much more sarcastic and frequently delivering lighthearted jabs toward Pearl's character flaws, similar to Marie; this would be greatly toned down in the following updates. Octo Expansion would later hint this discrepancy is due to Marina wanting to disguise her inner lack of self-confidence, and in Splatoon 3: Side Order her international persona matches her Japanese one.

Marina ida 2

Marina has a crush on Pearl, being described as a "maiden in love" on the Japanese version of Splatoon Base, and making a manga about her where she is drawn as a bishōjo, drawing flowers, sparkles, and hearts around Pearl. While this is never explicitly stated in-game, Marina shows her affection towards her by playfully poking fun at Pearl's small stature during newscasts, tackling and nuzzling her in a hug after they win the final battle of Octo Expansion, and becoming extremely devastated when Pearl floats around the idea of their band breaking up. This is also seen in Side Order, where Marina has a picture of Pearl as her computer's wallpaper, frequently uses heart emojis when speaking about Pearl in her dev diary, and compares herself to a "storybook princess" at the top of a tower who "brave Pearl" must rescue. She also appears to get jealous toward Acht when she thinks they are flirting with Pearl. Additionally, in Suffer No Fools, Frye calls Marina Pearl's "grouper", possibly a reference to groupies, women who go on tours and have romantic relationships with members of a band.

Marina Ida 3

Marina is known to be very technologically skilled, with Pearl describing her as being "too smart for her own good" in the Octo Expansion. This is demonstrated with the Shifty Stations, a series of stages created by Marina for Splatfests using advanced Octarian technology, with the mechanics from Octo Canyon appearing in them, as well as floating rocks. She is also capable of hacking Kamabo Corporation, allowing Agent 8 to pass a test using the data collected from their previous attempts, and can hack their CQ-80 device to show her chat room or release a distress signal. In the final battle of the Octo Expansion, she can use her laptop to analyze the NILS Statue in a few seconds, learning about the strength of its cannon and its use of sunlight to charge up power. In Side Order, Marina is the creator of the Memverse, a virtual reality setting with which she hopes to save sanitized Octolings like Acht by rejoining the memories stored in mem cakes with their souls; throughout the campaign, she is able to hack into the Memverse's code and provide buffs for Eight and the Pearl Drone. She is portrayed as being obsessed with the machinery found in various stages, such as Sturgeon Shipyard, Port Mackerel, and the bucketwheel excavator in Piranha Pit. She often utilizes similar machinery in the Shifty Station layouts she designs. While she does not like being considered a "nerd" in this regard in Splatoon 2, she seems to have embraced the identity by the time of Side Order. Marina is a childhood friend of Acht, with the two having gone to the same engineering school in the Octarian world.

Marina's favorite weapon class appears to be brellas. Her affinity for this weapon class has been referenced in Inkopolis News dialogue, the team artwork for Dexterity vs. Tenacity, and has been further confirmed by her Palette in Side Order.

Pearl Houzuki

Pearl Houzuki is a major character introduced in Splatoon 2. She is one of the two members of the band Off the Hook, along with Marina. In the latter, she appears in an alternate form called the Pearl Drone. Her signature color is light pink.

Pearl Houzuki part 2

Pearl resembles a stereotypical Japanese "pop princess". She has pale skin and appears shorter than most Inklings, something she is defensive about. Her shoulder-length tentacles are creamy-white with pink tips and a small bang, although they can change to completely one color like other Inklings. She has light golden eyes with pale yellow pupils in the shape of a cross, round cream eyebrows, and a beauty mark at the bottom right of her lips. Like Marina, and unlike other Inklings, she has one sharp tooth in the top middle of her mouth instead of the usual two. Her ears, which are slightly smaller than those of the average Inkling, are usually covered by her hair. Her outfit consists of a pearly white sleeveless dress, white shorts, and pink tights. The dress has a high collar, a large golden zipper on the front with a cut out cross similar to her pupils, and features a slanted diamond-like pattern at the bottom right. Her shoes are white, slightly platformed boots with large golden zippers and black soles. She also wears black fingerless gloves and a white crown with pink tips on her head that resembles a squid ring tooth. During Splatfests, the pink in her design changes to match the color of her chosen team, except for her crown which only changes in artwork. The diamond-like pattern on her dress lights up in sync with the music. According to her Inkopolis News dialogue, this outfit and Marina's matching one were designed by a graduate of Inkblot Art Academy.

Pearl Houzuki part 3

Pearl speaks rather bluntly and uses various slang terms, in line with her characterization as a rapper (despite her "pop princess" appearance). Compared to Marina, Pearl is a lot more energetic, expressive and quick to jump onto a topic with a bit of a short temper and a knack for composing new songs as they come to her. Often her comments can be playfully sarcastic, playing off Marina. She can also be quite brash, but is usually very friendly and means well in the end. Her lively attitude is most obvious if the player looks at her through the window, as she looks at them quizzically before striking a pose. When she wins a Splatfest, she often boasts how her team was better in the form of a rap, which she insists she makes up on the spot. She has been described sarcastically by Marina as "starved for attention, yet full of [herself]".

She comes from a very rich family, which reflects in her attitude and appearance. Among her several possessions, she owns a go-kart, a private jet, the baseball "Inkopolis Princess League", and a fitness studio. She also still gets an allowance despite having a job, has personal shoppers for MakoMart, and owns a vegetable garden in front of her house that must be watered using her helicopter with an exclusive jellyfish pilot, as well as having a lemon tree orchard and at least three shoe rooms in her house, one of which is soundproof.

Pearl Houzuki part 4

Her Splatfest choices show her to gravitate towards mostly outgoing things, such as Action, Adventure, and Film. Indeed, she has difficulties with sitting still, leading her to fidget and walk around during recordings. She's shown to be impatient and dislikes when things get "too quiet". She also has a quirky side, as she has mentioned that she eats breakfast cereal with a fork and has a pool full of imported mayonnaise.

Due to being born with uniquely developed vocal cords, Pearl's voice operates at two thousand times the frequency required to produce "mind-blowing" waves. As a result, it can create massive shockwaves and destroys audio equipment when she sings, leading her fans to nickname her the "club destroyer". Sunken Scroll 1 shows an incident in which a young Pearl destroyed various parts of the Youth Folk-Singing contest, and Marina's chat room has a clip during a heavy metal concert in which glass is heard shattering. To mitigate the effect, Marina mixes backing tracks in order to prevent Pearl from destroying her audio systems. When fully warmed up[a] and amplified by the Princess Cannon, Pearl's shockwave is concentrated into a powerful laser able to counteract the NILS statue's mostly-charged cannon. As a result of this tremendous power, Pearl chooses to practice away from civilization on Mount Nantai.

Pearl Houzuki part 5

Pearl is also very protective of Marina, even after being told by Cap'n Cuttlefish of Marina's true nature as an Octoling. Upon receiving the news, she remained loyal to Marina, even threatening violence against Cap'n Cuttlefish if he ever dared to splat her bandmate. She considers meeting Marina the best gift she has ever received.[8] Pearl is also fond of Agent 8, who she nicknames as 'Eight', happily noticing them before Marina does and striking a more flourished pose in direct contrast to her reaction to the standard playable Inkling. However, she is shown to dislike Sheldon due to her finding him boring, calling him that in the Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfests' announcements. She also says that she would "rather watch ink dry...at the post office...WITH SHELDON" than watching soccer in the Baseball vs. Soccer announcement, as well as suggesting to Marina that they should cover his house in toilet paper as a Halloween prank, albeit only in localizations.

Pearl's favorite weapon class appears to be dualies. She frequently mentions using these weapons when presenting stages currently in rotation, and additionally mentions dodge-rolling in dialogue for New Albacore Hotel. This is further confirmed in Side Order, as her Palette comes with the Order Dualies. She more specifically seems to appreciate the Enperry Splat Dualies, as she is seen posing with them in promotional art for the Action vs. Comedy Splatfest.

Pearl Houzuki's History

Early life: Pearl hails from Calamari County and was born into an exceedingly rich family, something that came across in a lot of stories about her childhood, such as being able to easily afford top-of-the-range musical equipment and receiving a ship identical to the Manta Maria for her sixth birthday. She also met the 'Lord of The Lake' who owns Piranha Pit. Pearl was interested in music from an early age, taking part in an Inkopolis Youth Folk-Singing Contest and causing some destruction with the power of her voice.

Pearl later attempted to start a musical career of her own, and despite having little to no idea how to write music, she insisted her heart was in the right place. She eventually became known as a heavy metal singer, demonstrating a notably more vulgar side with her song #$@%* Dudes Be #$@%* Sleepin' (Live), which garnered some fans but never went beyond that.

Splatoon: While practicing her potentially dangerous voice on Mount Nantai less than two years before the events of Splatoon 2, Pearl met Marina, a newly-defected Octoling, and the two quickly bonded. Pearl never learned of Marina's past, believing her to be a "country bumpkin", and taught Marina the ways of Inkling society. After meeting each other again, the two became friends, with Marina demonstrating her musical abilities with a demo of Ebb & Flow. After hearing this, Pearl agreed to form a band with her, which led to her fully establishing herself in the public consciousness upon the formation of Off the Hook. They released Ebb & Flow as their first single, and it was a hit. By the time of their fourth single, around nine months after the events of Splatoon, they had become popular enough to take over hosting Inkopolis News from the Squid Sisters.

Zapfishes Appearance and other things

Zapfish are a type of electric catfish that power the cities of Inkopolis and Splatsville. Through an Inkopolis News broadcast at the start of both Splatoon and Splatoon 2, the player learns that the Great Zapfish has been stolen; they later learn that it has been taken to Octo Valley and Octo Canyon respectively, both places being a hidden underground base used by the Octarians. The player is guided by Cap'n Cuttlefish or Marie and must rescue all the Zapfish also stolen in order to restore Inkopolis' power supply. A Zapfish is found at the end of every level, enclosed in a glowing sphere of electricity and sitting on a light bulb-esque pedestal. The player must shoot the sphere with ink until it bursts, releasing the Zapfish. If it is not grabbed after some seconds, a new bubble will form around it.

A doll version of a Zapfish replaces the normal Zapfish when completing a mission that had already been cleared. It is made out of wool, has googly eyes and some stitches patched, and it wears a blue cap made from wool, resembling Cap'n Cuttlefish's Legendary Cap, which the real Zapfish do not wear. The animation for obtaining the Zapfish also changes, having Agent 3 and Agent 4 holding the doll differently.

Mini Zapfish also appear in Octo Canyon, only inside Octoling missions. A total of eight Mini Zapfish are scattered across the map in each mission, and Agent 4 has collect all of them to complete the level. It is stated by Marie and Sheldon that all eight Mini Zapfish combined have the power output of one normal Zapfish.

Zapfish appear to be a cross between a small fish and a light bulb's filament. They have a large head with two small eyes, two nostrils, a pair of large orange lips and yellow whiskers with electricity pulsing through them. Below the head is a smaller yellow and white body, with two small fins and a tail with black tips.

Octo Canyon

story: After the Great Zapfish is stolen a second time by the Octarians, Marie recruits Agent 4 to find the Great Zapfish and her missing cousin Callie. Agent 4 travels to the underground lair known as Octo Canyon to recover the Great Zapfish. After completing all five sections of the Canyon, and beating each sections' boss, Agent 4 confronts DJ Octavio, who has brainwashed Callie. With Marie's help, Agent 4 frees Callie from Octavio's hypnoshades and defeats him once more.

Marie

Marie is a very fashionable Inkling with a remarkable resemblance to her cousin, having a more "laid-back" design than her in comparison. She has a light peach skin tone and light gray tentacles, two of which are longer and usually tied in a large bow on the right side of her head; they wrap around to the other side and curl up slightly at the tips, which have a green gradient and are decorated with spots. Additionally, she has a right-parted bang and a smaller one on the left, usually hidden under her hairpiece. She has large golden eyes with darker pupils shaped like four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a beauty mark under her right eye, mirroring the one on Callie's left cheek. Unlike the usual Inkling eye mask, Marie's eye markings are more droopy, with two small eyelash-like points each; her ears are slightly narrower, longer, and more downturned than those of the average Inkling. Marie's stature is generally depicted as average, with her being slightly taller than the player character in Splatoon and Splatoon 2, and the same height as them in Splatoon 3.

Marie part 2

At Tentakeel Outpost, Marie wears traditional Japanese-style clothing, similar to how she dressed as a child. She wears a dark gray kimono decorated with a green and yellow wave pattern at the hem, in a style not unlike the traditional Japanese seigaiha pattern. Around her waist is a green obi belt with a squid-shaped golden obidome charm. On top, she wears a black haori jacket with hanging sleeves and a triangle squid pattern along the bottom hem, similar to the traditional Japanese uroko pattern. On her feet are white tabi socks and black zori sandals with green thongs. The left side of her head is decorated with a tasseled pink ornament tied up with a red ribbon, described in The Art of Splatoon 2 as being reminiscent of cooked shrimp. She also carries a green wagasa parasol prop she got from a costume shop. it has a Cuttlegear brand logo printed on and a small green squid charm hanging from the handle through a piece of magenta rope. Her haori bears the Kensaki clan crest on both sides, though any connection between her and the Kensaki clan is unknown.

Childhood: Like her cousin, Marie's childhood appearance is depicted to have been quite unique in comparison to other Inklings, as they both already looked humanoid, contrasting with the squid-like appearance most Inklings have as children. As a child, Marie had larger eyes and eyebrows, and her tentacles were much shorter, messier, and without bangs. The calamari accessory on her head was also much smaller. Marie was often depicted wearing traditional Japanese-style clothing as a child. Her first outfit, shown in Sunken Scroll 17, consisted of a dark blue kimono with a white polka dot pattern along the bottom hem. She wore a pair of thick black okobo sandals with pink thongs.

Marie Personality and traits

Marie is seemingly quieter than, and not as excitable as, her cousin, and usually only gives a half-smile, if at all. She can be sarcastic from time to time, and is slightly prone to complaining, but is usually in a mild mood. Overall, her disposition is laid-back and friendly, although she gets easily annoyed and can be grumpy sometimes. She is also an expert at doing impressions, as mentioned by Agent 1.

She dislikes overly thrilling activities and can even be somewhat lazy. She also show signs of being a picky eater as she refuses to eat the ends of loaves of bread[4] and does not seem to be a fan of vegetables, even to the extent of saying that she would rather eat a Splattershot than vegetables. She also dislikes getting dirty, as when attacked by Agent 4 in Octo Canyon or Agent 3 in Alterna, Marie blocks their attacks with her umbrella, making it impossible to get ink on her. Marie even chose Team Order for the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest for her affinity to keep things "neat and nice." Marie also seems to be cross-dominant; she has been shown writing with her right hand but holding chopsticks with her left. She has shown a demonstrably cheekier side, as seen in the Pokémon Red vs. Pokémon Blue Splatfest ending dialogue, where Callie asked how to change the name of Marie's Vulpix she traded her from "BLUEISBEST" and Marie hurriedly ends the broadcast, slyly avoiding the question. In addition to this, when reattempting the final boss fight of Splatoon 2, at one point her dialogue reads: "Octavio, stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!", laughing at the fact that DJ Octavio's "fists" need to be shot back at him. She states that she 'can't throw shade without Callie' in Octo Canyon, further implying her cheeky side.

When anticipating an announcement (for example, the theme of a Splatfest, or the contents of an update), she often repeats herself in excitement. (Ex. "What is it? What is it?!")

Marie personality and traits 2

She mentions several times on Inkopolis News that her preferred weapon class is the charger. Given the existence of the Hero Charger, it is possible that Marie used a charger as Agent 2 in Octo Valley. In Splatoon 2, she mentions that she is "more of a charger girl", and in the final battle, Tide Goes Out, she is shown using the Hero Charger. In Side Order, her signature weapon class is once again confirmed through her Palette.

Despite her constant teasing of Callie, it is shown in the Squid Sisters Stories that Marie constantly stresses about Callie's well-being and worries about overshadowing her, even leading to self-loathing.

Many of Marie's Splatfest choices are lazy, smart, and sassy, as seen with her choices of Save It, Perfect Mind, and Marie. Marie states that she hates pineapple on pizza and even wonders about getting a slice of 'pineapple-free pizza from the future' while alone in Octo Canyon. Marie also stated that she would rather join Team Future than Team Past so she can 'give out massages and print out pizza slices'.

Marie hates Callie's puns, at one point calling them "punbearable", although while at a live concert, Callie states that Marie has her own "signature puns". This implies that Marie truly cares about what Callie likes, although she is prone to cheeky insults. Marie may be acting cheeky to help raise her popularity.

Marie's early life and Splatoon 3 events

Marie was born and raised in Calamari County, regularly counting the stars with her cousin Callie at night. At a young age, she became interested in singing and entered Inkopolis' first annual Youth Folk-Singing Contest with Callie. Their stunning performance earned them a standing ovation from the audience, as well as a first-place trophy and certificate.

After moving to Inkopolis, Marie worked at Walleye Warehouse with Callie. She resented this job, saying that the best thing about it "was quitting" and burning her uniform, despite thinking that her co-workers were nice. Eventually, Marie joined Callie in creating the Squid Sisters, slowly rising in notoriety to become Inkopolis' premier pop icons.

As part of the New Squidbeak Splatoon along with Callie and the Captain, Marie has been doing reconnaissance work into a previously undiscovered shelter that was abandoned by humans, called Alterna. The new Agent 3 first encounters the trio on Future Utopia Island after falling into Alterna due to a cave-in. As Agent 3 and Callie explore the other sites, Marie and the Captain stay on Future Utopia Island at their base camp. Marie also acts as a 'translator' for the Captain, relaying their thoughts and feelings to Agent 3, as the two do not directly interact.

After Agent 3 bests the three bosses and collects all components of the treasure, Callie and Marie assemble the machine for the Captain to use in order to remove all of the Fuzzy Ooze surrounding the Alterna Space Center, where the Squid Sisters' grandfather, Craig Cuttlefish, has been taken captive. After the treasure has served its purpose, Marie then gifts it to Deep Cut, who are extremely grateful. To show their thanks, the Deep Cut members profess their desire to make Marie their boss, much to her dismay. She complains on multiple occasions about the added paperwork the Deep Cut trio has caused her to have.

When the New Squidbeak Splatoon finally reaches Craig Cuttlefish, they are heartbroken to find that

Marie's early life and splatoon 3 events (part 2)

that their grandfather has presumably been dehydrated. However, Cuttlefish is revived after a tear from the Captain falls on him.

As Agent 3 battles Mr. Grizz in space, Marie, along with Callie, Deep Cut, and DJ Octavio, perform Calamari Inkantation 3MIX in order to hype them up for battle

Callie

Callie is a very fashionable Inkling with a remarkable resemblance to her cousin, having a more "outgoing" design than her in comparison. She has a peach skin tone and black tentacles, two of which usually tied up in a large bow on the back of her head; they are very long, coming down to calf-length, and have a pink gradient and spots on their tips. Additionally, she has a left-parted bang and a smaller one on the right, usually hidden under her hairpiece. She has large golden eyes with darker pupils shaped like four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a beauty mark under her left eye, mirroring the one on Marie's right cheek. Unlike the usual Inkling eye mask, Callie's eye markings are more angular, with two small eyelash-like points on each; her ears are slightly narrower, longer, and more upturned than those of the average Inkling. According to one of Marie's dialogues of Moray Towers in the Spanish version, Callie wears contact lenses. Callie's stature is generally depicted as average, with her being slightly taller than the player character in Splatoon and Splatoon 2, and the same height as them in Splatoon 3.

Callie 2

On the right side of her head is a pink and white ornament resembling ika sōmen—a squid sashimi dish from Japan—on top of a shiso leaf. The sashimi can be seen briefly flying off when she jumps, as it only rests on top of her head.

During a Splatfest, any part of Callie's appearance that is normally pink changes to match the color of her Splatfest team, including the tips of her tentacles. This represents her standard ink color

Callie sports a new outfit and yellow ink color in Splatoon 3's story mode Return of the Mammalians, to signify her role as Agent 1 in the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Her outfit is very similar to her original Squid Sisters ensemble, but with notable differences, being overall more mature and professional in appearance. Instead of having both of her longer tentacles tied up, Callie now only ties up the left one back, while styling the right one to the front to frame her face. She wears a sleeveless black tube dress with three horizontal yellow cut-like stripes, iridescent white tights, and black ankle-high boots with silver wedge heels; the dress is made of a leathery material instead of the sequined fabric on her stage outfit. She still wears her signature ika-somen hat, but the skin of the sashimi is now black with yellow spots and rests on a yellow shiso leaf. For accessories, Callie wears chunky iridescent earrings, black gloves, a large silver choker, and a matching silver bandolier crossed over her left shoulder.

Callie personality and traits

Callie is very cheerful and excitable, and usually sports a grin on her face. She values her bond with her cousin Marie, with the two having been inseparable since they were young. As children, they enjoyed stargazing and playing tag together. She is particularly attentive to Marie's changes in mood, even noting when the latter wants to drink a latte based on expression alone. When by herself, however, Callie can become upset and prone to overthinking.

She is rather fond of puns and uses them from time to time, a habit that tends to annoy her cousin. She is also optimistic and caring; in the Japanese version of Splatoon, she thanks her Splatfest team for doing their best regardless of whether she won or not. Unlike Marie's sarcastic quips, Callie always seems to have something happy and innocent to say. She looks at the bright side of things while providing stage commentary. Callie gravitates towards exciting outdoor activities, such as driving, running around, and going camping. She also loves art, decorating Octo Canyon with fabric and tape while under the influence of DJ Octavio's hypnoshades, and representing the discipline in the Art vs. Science Splatfest, though her drawings have been described cheekily by Marie as "avant-garde". She has expressed a fear of heights, ghosts, skateboarding, and even Bluefin Depot. Callie also states in Pinwheel Power Plant that she dislikes seafood, though the Squid vs. Octopus Splatfest seems to contradict this. She also hates Flooders and spinning platforms, as she easily becomes motion sick, and cannot ride a bicycle or drive, which is ironic as she represented cars in the Cars vs. Planes Splatfest

Callie personality and traits part 2

She is incredibly rich, being described by Marie as having "more money than [she] can count" - also ironic as she did not represent money in the Love vs. Money Splatfest. Some of her Splatfest choices are energetic and uplifting - for example, her choices of Fit, Love, and Perfect Body. She also loves to eat and often talks about food, much to the chagrin and occasional disgust of Marie. Her favorite food is fries,[3] although, like her grandfather, she also enjoys crabby cakes. Easily distracted by cute, pretty, or striking things, many of her stage comments are about something completely irrelevant to the battle.

It is mentioned numerous times in Inkopolis News dialogue that her favorite weapon class is rollers, and her favorite special weapon seems to be the Bomb Rush. Although mainly cheerful, Callie can occasionally get tired of Marie's sassiness and make cruel comments herself, which she is very prone to while brainwashed. This is seen when she "got personal" during the result announcement of the Early Bird vs. Night Owl Splatfest and the Naughty vs. Nice Splatfest where she asked Marie why she was the one on Team Naughty, in which she ends up getting frightened and says she never meant anything by it.

Callie's story After splatoon 1

As detailed in the Squid Sisters Stories, by nine months after the Callie vs. Marie Splatfest, the Squid Sisters rocketed to new heights of popularity, becoming the biggest stars in Inkling society. After releasing her solo record, Bomb Rush Blush, Callie began making guest appearances on variety shows and eventually became a TV drama actress. With this extra fame and work, they eventually stepped down as hosts of Inkopolis News to focus on their solo careers and were replaced by Pearl and Marina of Off the Hook.

With work forcing the Squid Sisters continually further apart, Marie began to worry that the Splatfest had harmed their relationship. Eventually sharing a day off, the two met up to dispel their worries and agreed on taking a short trip home to Calamari County. However, Callie never arrived, prompting Marie to leave and search for her. Realizing that the Great Zapfish had also gone missing and Cap'n Cuttlefish was not around to guard DJ Octavio, Marie left to Inkopolis Square to find an Inkling who could help her.

An important note to her character heavily implied in the relationship chart is that Callie could have willingly gone to the Octarians as a way to escape her life as a celebrity. In her relationship chart with DJ Octavio, they seem to have an ongoing conversation of Callie joining the Octarians with her saying "OK, fine. I'll hear you out". She's also shown to have no resentment towards the Octarians after or before being brainwashed by some of her dialogue in Splatoon 2 (and again in the relationship chart)

Callie's story in splatoon 2

In Splatoon 2, Marie recruited Agent 4 to explore Octo Canyon and help find Callie and the Great Zapfish. While doing so, Marie began receiving peculiar radio messages that were later revealed to be coming from Callie. When Agent 4 and Marie finally discovered Callie in Bomb Rush Blush, they found out that she had fallen under the influence of DJ Octavio's "hypnoshades" and was working as one of his subordinates. During the following battle, Marie managed to shoot off the hypnoshades with her Hero Charger, bringing Callie back to her senses and eventually reuniting the Squid Sisters. After DJ Octavio was defeated for the second time, the Squid Sisters made a new single, Fresh Start, which is played over the credits. If the final boss mission is replayed, Callie's reason for siding with the Octarians again is that the hypnoshades "look good on her".

Shiver Hohojiro

"You think you're cool? Sharks call ME cold-blooded."

Shiver Hohojiro is a character in Splatoon 3. She is a member of Deep Cut, alongside Frye and Big Man, with whom she co-hosts both Anarchy Splatcast, the news show of Splatsville, and Splatfests. She is also the third reachable boss of Return of the Mammalians. Her signature color is blue. Shiver is an Octoling with pale skin and a wide, oval-shaped face, sharp indigo triangle eyebrows and slender red eyes with light red pupils in the shape of an infinity symbol, similar to Marina's pupils and matching real-life octopuses. Her Octoling eye mask is very thin and sharp, almost appearing to be cat-eyeliner makeup, with red eye shadow blended underneath.

appearance: Shiver's tentacles are medium-length, with the left side styled over her face, hiding her left eye from view. They have a slight gradient from dull blue to bright blue, and curl slightly upwards at the ends. In addition to the eye makeup, Shiver also appears to wear a light red lip gloss. Shiver has a cool, yet rebellious sense of fashion, with a clear root in traditional Japanese culture. She wears a white sarashi chest wrap under a long indigo shawl made from a shiny translucent material. Attached to the left side of the shawl is a large silver octopus charm with two red tassels tied through holes in it. On her legs are low-cut black leggings decorated with two slashes on her right thigh, resembling shark gills. She wears black tabi-like ankle boots with red wedge heels. Additionally, Shiver's fingertips have a bright red color. Her right ear is pierced with three shark tooth-shaped earrings. On the back of her head, circling a large suction cup on one of her tentacles, is a length of white twisted cloth tied in a knot, not unlike the traditional Japanese hachimaki headband. Hachimaki have a variety of styles, and the one worn by Shiver in particular is a common sight during certain Japanese festivals, such as the Awa Dance Festival.

Shiver Hohojiro Personality

Personality: Shiver presents herself as aloof and cold-blooded, a ruthless fighter who is certain of her victory. However, she is particularly quick to anger due to her competitive nature. As soon as she starts to lose to Agent 3, she begins to get visibly annoyed with the player and Master Mega.

Nonetheless, she appears to be the most mature member of Deep Cut, often remaining pragmatic and composed, contrasting Frye and Big Man, who tend to be more wild and reckless than Shiver. This maturity makes her a sort of leader of Deep Cut, in charge of opening and closing every Anarchy Splatcast and announcing important events like Splatfest themes and game updates. She also thinks that she is the leader, which is revealed during the results of the Shiver vs. Frye vs. Big Man Splatfest. During Splatfests, she appears to be a bit selfish, as she often votes for the more greedy teams such as Team Power and Team Money. She also occasionally comes down quite severely on her bandmates and is a deep perfectionist, sending Big Man back to the drawing board with Anarchy Rainbow several times, and often criticizing both Frye and Big Man's battle techniques. Nevertheless, she greatly cares for her bandmates, poking fun at them and sometimes showing admiration for their boldness, even saying outright that she envies Frye's self-confidence. Despite her perfectionism and brash persona, Shiver can be surprisingly humble and understanding when she lets herself relax, as she was willing to put aside her differences and work with the New Squidbeak Splatoon, even being the one to suggest that Marie becomes their boss, and happily referring to the Squid Sisters as the band's "bosses". She also seems to enjoy puns. In contrast to her bandmates' impulsiveness, Shiver seems to enjoy predictability and does not like being caught off-guard. She has stated that she listens to Sheldon's rambles and takes his advice, believing herself to be one of the only people who is willing to do so.

Shiver Hohojiro Backstory

Shiver's favorite weapon class appears to be stringers, according to dialogue from Anarchy Splatcast, her Tableturf Battle deck, and her Palette in Side Order.

Bsckstory: Shiver was born into the Hohojiro clan of shark tamers, well-known for representing the Splatlands. As a child, she participated in grueling training to learn shark-taming, eventually gaining the ability to tame giant sharks, a rarity even among the Hohojiro. She met Master Mega during this period, bonding with him through ritual. She met Frye and Big Man at a young age due to their familial ties, but remained acquaintances with them. When she reached middle school, Shiver took an interest in Frye, whose fiery and brave personality caught her eye. The two started looking out for each other, with Shiver often being concerned about her recklessness, before the two started to bond over their shared love of singing. They would often go to the school rooftop and sing together, before deciding they wanted accompaniment and seeking out Big Man, a pianist. This led to the formation of Deep Cut as it is known today. After this, an older classmate asked the trio to make a cheering song for a school competition. Big Man and Frye agreed, but Shiver demanded 30,000G payment, which led to the creation of Hide and Sleek, Deep Cut's very first song. A local bowling alley commissioned a song for a commercial, to which Shiver hiked their price up to 300,000G, and what resulted was their second song, Smeared Canvas. The success of the commercial, and the song along with it, made Deep Cut relatively well known in the Splatlands. A few years later, Deep Cut were made the hosts of the Anarchy Splatcast.
