👻 1. The Weeping Woman

Appearance:

Tall woman, dressed in white, with long black hair.

He prowls rivers, lakes or deserted streets at night.

Her chilling cry:

“Oh, my children!” 😢

Brief history:

According to legend, she was a mother who killed her children (out of jealousy or desperation) and then committed suicide.

Her spirit wanders eternally searching for her children.

It is the most famous ghost in Mexico, known throughout Latin America.

Appearance:

Very neat nurse, with an impeccable white uniform and a serene face.

Sometimes it glows slightly or seems to float through the hallways.

Brief history:

He appears in hospitals to care for the sick or relieve their pain, especially at night.

In life she was a nurse who died of sadness or guilt after being deceived by a doctor.

Her spirit continues to fulfill her duty: caring for patients.

🕯️ 3. The Black Charro

Appearance:

Tall man, dressed in an elegant black charro suit, with a large hat and bright or red eyes.

Sometimes he rides a black horse.

Brief history:

It is said that he is the devil in disguise, who appears on lonely roads to offer wealth or help… in exchange for a soul.

In other versions, it is the spirit of a charro condemned for his ambition or pride.

🕯️ 4. The Mulata of Córdoba

Appearance:

Beautiful dark-haired woman with mysterious eyes.

Sometimes it appears among lights or smoke, or it vanishes before the eyes of others.

Brief history:

He lived in Córdoba, Veracruz, during colonial times.

She was accused of witchcraft because of her beauty and knowledge of herbs.

Unjustly imprisoned, she mysteriously disappeared from her cell

These are the important ghosts that cannot be destroyed, but most are not that powerful.

Hachishaku-sama (八尺様) – The Eight-Shaku Woman

Appearance:

Very tall (about 2.4 meters).

Beautiful, but disturbing female figure.

She wears a long white dress or kimono and sometimes a large hat or veil.

His voice or laugh sounds like “Po... po... po...”

Brief history:

It is an evil spirit that appears in rural areas.

It is said that she kidnaps children or young people who see her or hear her voice.

Those who are “marked” by it die within a few days, unless a protective ritual is performed.

It is a modern urban legend that emerged on Japanese internet forums.

Sadako Yamamura (貞子山村)

Appearance:

Young woman with very long black hair covering her face.

Pale, almost bluish skin.

She wears a white dress or nightgown, typical of Japanese ghosts (yūrei).

Moves unnaturally: slowly, or dragging.

Brief history:

Sadako had psychic powers and was cruelly murdered, thrown into a well.

His vengeful spirit created a cursed videotape: whoever watches it dies within seven days.

He is the main ghost of the Ringu / The Ring saga, a symbol of modern Japanese horror.

Oiwa-san (お岩さん)

From the classic kabuki theater “Yotsuya Kaidan” (The Story of the Ghost of Yotsuya).

She was a woman betrayed and poisoned by her husband, who wanted to marry someone else.

His spirit returns with a disfigured face to take revenge.

He is one of Japan's most famous ghosts, and actors are said to ask his spirit for permission before performing a play to avoid curses.

👘 2. Okiku (お菊)

Protagonist of the story Banchō Sarayashiki (“The Story of the Broken Plate”).

She was a servant falsely accused of breaking one of her master's ten valuable plates.

She was murdered and thrown into a well.

Her ghost appears counting: “one, two, three... nine” and screams desperately when she can’t find the tenth plate.

Kuchisake-onna (口裂け女) – The woman with the cut mouth:

Modern urban legend (70s–80s).

A woman wearing a mask asks, “Am I beautiful?”

If you answer yes, he takes off his mask and shows his mouth cut from ear to ear.

Depending on your response, he either attacks you or lets you escape.

It is an example of how traditional Japanese folklore lives on and adapts to modern times.

🕯️ 5. Yuki-onna (雪女) – The Snow Woman:

A female spirit that appears during snowstorms.

She is beautiful, pale and dressed in white.

He may freeze with his breath or lose interest if he feels compassion.

Represents both mortal beauty and strength
