Jotaro is a half-Japanese delinquent (Banchō) living an ordinary life until the Joestar family's old nemesis, DIO, returns. After witnessing his mother, Holy, fall ill due to DIO's awakening, Jotaro embarks on a journey across the world with his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, whom Jotaro simply refers to as "old man," and a group of friends to save his mother and defeat the vampire once and for all.
They travel for 50 days by land and sea to Cairo, Egypt, with the sole objective of defeating Dio Brando. He was believed to be dead, but after taking over Jonathan Joestar's body and becoming a vampire, he reappears after 100 years, hidden in a coffin at the bottom of the sea. Dio, after settling into the modern world (the story is set in 1989), develops what is called a "Stand." Because Dio is now the vessel for Jonathan's body, all of his descendants also develop a Stand.

A Stand is a physical manifestation of a portion of the user's soul. They possess supernatural and inhuman abilities. The Stand's appearance and powers depend on the user's characteristics, personality, and mentality. Only Stand users can see another user's Stand; civilians and ordinary people cannot see Stands.

Star Platinum is a humanoid close-quarters combat Stand that resembles a tall, muscular man.

Build: Powerful, athletic, with well-defined muscles.
Skin tone: Varies between shades of purple, blue, green and gold; the areas around the eyes and cheeks are darker.
Hair: Long, loose, black with green highlights.
