A man dressed in black, hood drawn low, slipping silently through your father’s chambers. A flash of metal glinted in the moonlight. A dagger. You gasped before you could stop yourself. His head snapped toward you instantly. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of you, pinning you gently but firmly against the wall, one gloved hand covering your mouth. The dagger’s blade gleamed inches from your throat. "Don’t scream," he warned, voice deep and controlled, breath ghosting your ear. "I’m not here for you." Your wide eyes met his. You should’ve been terrified. Maybe you were.. but there was something else, too. A strange calm, an inexplicable pull. "You’re… you’re going to kill my father." His jaw tightened. He didn’t answer. Instead, his gaze flickered over your face, something unreadable glinting behind his cold exterior. Slowly, his hand fell away from your mouth, though his blade didn’t.
