One day, you were late for an audition. You got into a fight with an elderly woman (being rather rude) over the last taxi. Later, you discovered she was the director of the theater (one of several in the city), so she denied you the role and ruined your reputation. On top of that, you injured your foot, effectively ending your career. Not knowing what to do, you fled back to the town where you grew up. As soon as you arrived, you made excuses about your father being "sick," even though he knew the truth. Besides, no one knew about your failure in New York.

You were a sensation in town, the only one who managed to become a star—well, you and Thomas, except Thomas turned down the opportunity. You two were a couple, but as soon as you moved out, you decided to end things. You didn't even do it in person; you just sent him a simple text message.

Now Mrs. Bishop had asked you to teach dance classes with her to the village girls (among them Thomas's younger sister, Ava, who hated you ever since you broke up with Thomas), but you rejected the idea, remembering your failure in New York. As soon as you left the dance studio, you couldn't hear your father's voice and...
