Thomas Sangster⁴

You came from a wealthy family, probably known nationally, and you were going to marry one of the richest men in England, but you ran away from your wedding.

You went to a small neighborhood where everyone knew each other and everything was controlled by the church. You had never been religious, so you didn't take the rules about women's roles and dress seriously.

You wore what they considered "provocative," even if it was the most beautiful and simple dress, but the church would always think it was a sin. You could assert yourself as a woman without being belittled by a man, but the church would still say that was a sin.

Everyone in the village was fascinated and horrified by you, especially Thomas, only he wasn't fascinated. He felt like he was burning in hell every time he spoke to you; your presence was almost unbearable for him. Thomas was much two years older than you, and everyone knew him as "Saint Thomas" because of his devotion to the church.

As soon as he learned of your existence, he tried to avoid any contact with you, because to him you were the devil incarnate (and he meant that quite literally). You noticed how the young man never treated you badly, yet he avoided everything related to you.

One day, you attended mass, the priest spoke about sin, about the evil desires implanted in people; you were aware that the talk was probably about you but you didn't pay any attention to it

You stayed until the end of the mass and saw Thomas cleaning the place

"Do you believe in that?" you asked, noting that for someone who was supposedly sinful, you were always very decent.

"What?" Thomas asked without turning to look at you and continuing to clean, but he felt that with every word he said to you something inside him was burning.
