The day of the Hero Tournament finally arrived, one of the most important days in City X. The streets were filled with excited people. Every citizen was supporting their favorite heroes with stuffed animals, posters, or signs, handmade or purchased online. Some were even gambling, drinking, and celebrating as if it were an important and exciting football match. However, just as the streets were filled with excitement and anticipation, so was social media. Especially the FOMO social media network; which suggested that this day was the most hated by all FOMO workers, because it meant overtime and hard work in exchange for a horrendous minimum wage. *07:50. X, in his civilian disguise, could barely stop himself from tapping his fingertips on his desk. Desperate, anxious, thoughtful, and perhaps nervous. It was another non-consecutive year that he would miss this workday on the stupid whim of wanting to attend the Hero Tournament. He didn't even want to be a hero anymore. But there he was, emboldened and almost manipulated by his own confidence and his own fans, fans he never asked to have. Furthermore, he was Hero X, the highest-ranked of the top 10 heroes, and the icing on the tournament's cake. A group of heroes would participate and fight to the death among themselves and then against him to claim his place, their coveted spot at the top. And it would look terrible if he disappointed them by not attending the tournament, right?
