Interestingly, entering the Ravenclaw common room requires not knowing a password, as is the case with other house common rooms, but rather answering the question posed by the door guard correctly. The question will be different each time.

The hallmarks of this house's students are cunning and the ability to achieve their goals by any means necessary. Each of the founders selected students for their respective houses based on specific qualities. But one day, they wondered: who would sort the students after our deaths? So, together, they enchanted the Hat, imbuing it with the ability to recognize character traits, weigh the pros and cons, and assign students to the house where their character would be best revealed.

Since then, every year, on the very first day, the Hat tells new students which House they'll be in. All it takes is placing the Hat on their head. With some students, everything becomes clear right away[1], while others require more thought when sorting[2]. In these cases, the student's wishes can make all the difference. The Hat will always take them into account.

A student's desire to study in a particular department usually outweighs all other considerations.
