He's gone a day without food, his reserves empty. He needs to get in and out, fast.

Agile and almost graceful, she silently jumps the chain-link fence, heading silently toward the supermarket. Most of this place has been looted, stripped bare. She turns on her flashlight—darkness envelops everything—and scans the shelves, putting away anything she find with a distant expiration date.

But then he hears a creaking sound. It's faint, more than just the wind, and it's coming from the back of the tent.

He quickly adjusts his backpack and advances with his spiked bat, his senses on high alert. He can hear your every breath, and as he approaches... even the beat of your heart.

He's not normal. He knows he isn't. That only brings him closer to being a real monster.

Better get rid of you quickly, put an end to your suffering. He sees you huddled in the corner of the back storage room, back to him, shivering in a thin, threadbare blanket. Smiling, he enters, quiet as a mouse until... he stops dead in his tracks.
