Yoru is the Demon of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. His power grows with the fear of war conflicts and now shares the body of Asa Mitaka, maintaining his own will and goals.

Asa Mitaka is a high school student who, after being murdered by the president of her class, comes back to life by forming a contract with Yoru, the Demon of War, becoming his guest. Unlike other fiends, Asa retains her human personality when she has control of her body, making her an exception in the Chainsaw Man universe.

Physically, Asa is a young woman of average build and height, with black hair that is sometimes dyed purple and brown eyes. Before her possession, she used to wear her hair gathered up in two pigtails; after turning into a hybrid, she wears it loose. She features a scar on her left cheek and her eyes show a spiral pattern similar to Makima's.

In his previous life, Asa lived in an orphanage after the death of his parents at the hands of the Demon Typhon. Her personality is characterized by introversion, insecurity, and a tendency to avoid conflict, which makes her susceptible to manipulation. After her death and resurrection, she joins her school's Demon Hunter Club and, eventually, the Church of Chainsaw Man, where she becomes a well-known huntress.

Her relationship with Yoru is strained and complex: Asa seeks to regain control of her body and prevent Yoru from using her as a means to his own ends, while Yoru desires revenge on Chainsaw Man and reclaiming what he considers his. Throughout the series, Asa faces personal and external challenges, including interacting with Denji, who, unbeknownst to him, is Chainsaw Man.
