Korekiyo is aloof and somewhat brooding, but also very composed and intelligent. Having met a wide variety of humans during his cultural anthropology fieldwork, he is able to remain calm even in confined circumstances and believes in approaching things calmly and rationally, rather than emotionally. He tends to remain calmer than others in difficult situations. For him, it is an opportunity to observe. However, even his spirit begins to break during the Death Road of Despair, and he panics during Gonta's Insect Encounter. His morals have been described as "a little odd." At one point, he even openly states that he has no problem with killing and questions why others do, stating that killing is perceived as wrong only by human-made laws, laws that do not exist in the Killing Game. He is aware that his appearance and demeanor make him look like a potential murderer, but does not seem to care what others think. He claims that others should not fear him as a potential killer, as he simply wishes to observe.

He is passionate about his talent and becomes emotional when talking about it. This is demonstrated when he panics when Kokichi touches the katana in his laboratory without permission, fearing it will be damaged, and threatens to rip it out. He reflects on different subjects in deep and complex ways, occasionally sharing his knowledge in long, unsolicited anthropology speeches. He has developed a pet theory about the "limitless beauty of humanity," believing that all humans are beautiful, including their "ugly side." Such beauty can be created from hardship; however, as seen in his interactions with Kokichi and Miu, he tends to find loud and vulgar people annoying, often asking them to be quiet.

Korekiyo is a tall, thin male student with pale skin and long, ocean-green hair. Her hair is said to reflect an archaic image of beauty and "put her classmates to shame." She has squinty yellow eyes, and a sage-green mask covers her mouth and neck, with a zipper where her mouth would be, giving her a sinister and mysterious appearance. She wears the mask wherever she goes, and even has different masks for eating, showering, and other daily activities. Upon removing the mask, it is revealed that she wears lipstick like her tulpa's appearance, based on her deceased sister. Her appearance becomes more feminine: her chest enlarges slightly, her eyebrows thin, and she grows more eyelashes, with eyeshadow appearing spontaneously when her sister's personality takes over.

He wears a dark green military uniform with knee-high black boots, a zipper down the front, and two straps above. The uniform consists of a white button-up shirt underneath, a dark green button-up shirt, a red armband around his left arm from his previous school, Sunset Hills High School, a regulation green military cap with his old school's insignia on top, and a decorative revolver-chain with bullet-like charms hanging from it. In his Free Time events, he claims that his sister made the uniform for him while she was sick. He wears what appears to be some kind of silver locket around his neck. Both of his hands are completely covered in bandages, though it is likely that he is not even injured and that this is actually related to witchcraft.
