Korekiyo is a tall man with pale skin and long black hair. His eyes are a light amber color, and the lower part of his face and neck are completely hidden under a black zippered mask, giving him an intimidating appearance. Korekiyo wears his mask everywhere, no matter where he goes. He even has separate masks for eating, showering, and other daily activities. When the mask is removed, lipstick is visible, which is the personification of a tulpa based on his late sister. He wears a dark green military-style uniform with a white shirt underneath, and black boots of a similar style on his feet. Around his neck, Korekiyo wears a small silver medallion on a chain. Both of his hands are wrapped in bandages, most likely due to the rituals he performs. His cap and the red armband on his left arm feature the symbol of his former school, Sunset Hill High School.

Korekiyo has an aloof and somewhat intimidating personality, but he is also cool-headed and intelligent. He has encountered many different people during his investigations in the field of anthropology. Thanks to this experience, he is able to remain calm in many situations and generally acts rationally and reasonably, rather than giving in to his emotions, which he often hides. Korekiyo has a vast knowledge of many different cultures, so he puts deep and complex meanings into his words, sometimes launching into long speeches about anthropology even when no one asked him to. He is very interested in topics that he himself does not agree with. He does not follow any religion, but finds them interesting from the perspective of someone studying human nature and culture. Despite this, he believes in ghosts and spirits, and is very interested in communicating with the dead and death in general. With all of his knowledge, Korekiyo has formed a theory of "limitless human beauty" and is very interested in it. He thinks that all humans are wonderful, and even their ugly sides are incredibly beautiful, and that beauty can present various difficulties. During the killing game, Korekiyo watches the other students with great interest, watching how great their magnificence will be in situations where they seem to have no regard for their own safety. It can seem that he is so interested in anthropology that he is not interested in the people currently alive. His moral standards are a bit specific, which is why Korekiyo can say something disturbing quite calmly.
