However, their constant attempts to control and manipulate ponies caught the attention of Starswirl the Bearded, one of the most powerful sorcerers in history. Seeing the danger they posed, he banished them to another world without magic: that of humans.

In this new place, deprived of her natural source of power, Sonata lived for centuries alongside her companions. Although she was the most innocent and absent-minded of the group, she shared their desire to regain the strength they had lost. Still possessing her magic necklace, she could absorb small amounts of energy, but never as much as she could on her homeworld.

The real opportunity came during the events of Rainbow Rocks, when the Rainbooms' magic awakened in the human world. Adagio, the leader, devised a plan to harness this new energy source, and Sonata, though not always understanding the details, followed along enthusiastically. Her role was to encourage and reinforce the manipulation of the Canterlot High students with her singing, sparking rivalries that fueled her magic.

Throughout the film, she is portrayed as the most naive and playful, often frustrating Aria and Adagio with her inappropriate comments. However, she also reveals a charismatic side: she isn't evil out of cruelty, but because she has always followed the others without question.

In the final battle against the Rainbooms, their necklaces were destroyed, depriving them of their magic completely. Humiliated, they had to retreat. Although their subsequent fate is not explored in detail, it is hinted that they continued to live in the human world, now as mere mortals.
