Kaname Kuran (玖蘭 枢 Kuran Kaname) was a Pureblood vampire and Head of the Kuran family, one of the seven remaining Pureblood families who was also one of the progenitors of the Vampires and the first Kuran, giving him an estimated age of 11,000 years old. Kaname is the fiancé of Yuki Cross and the biological father of Ai Kuran.

Senri Shiki (支葵 千里, Shiki Senri) is an aristocrat, a model, and one of the youngest Night Class students. Later on, it is revealed that he is the illegitimate son of Rido Kuran.Shiki's last name is a combination of shi, meaning "to support" and ki, meaning "mallow"--a flowering plant with pink or white blossoms. The ri in Senri is a traditional Japanese unit of measure for distance, and one ri is about 2.44 miles. Senri means "1,000 RI

Yuki is a petite and slender girl with shoulder-length chestnut brown hair that has a red/dark brown hue color and big brown eyes that is fringed with red.

She wears the trademark black uniform of the Day Class with a white armband carrying the mark of a red rose, signifying her position as a member of the Disciplinary Committee. Additionally under her skirt, attached to her left thigh, Yuki carries an anti-vampire weapon: the Artemis Rod. She wears different boots in the anime and manga:

In the anime, she wears ankle brown boots In the manga, she wears dark leather brown boots Upon her awakening as a Pureblood Princess, it is instantly noticeable that her appearance is strikingly beautiful like her mother and Yuki has also been said to have the same "kind and tender eyes/gaze" as her father. Compared to her hairstyle and appearance as a human, Yuki's hair grows to be much longer, which reaches down to the back of her waist as a vampire. Her character development as a vampire is portrayed to be more feminine and more toned down compared to her human side. As a vampire, Yuki's eyes are more red and less brown. Yuki was five years old when her uncle, Rido Kuran, came seeking to take her away. In order to protect her, her mother, Juri, sacrificed herself to seal Yuki's vampire nature and erases Yuki's memory. Yuki's first memory was that of Kaname saving her from a Level E Vampire who tried to devour her while being alone on a snowy day. She grew up as a human in the care of Kaien Cross, who adopted her. Despite no longer remembering Kaname and their past relationship, he stayed as an important figure in Yuki's life, becoming her much beloved savior whose visits she always looked forward to, eventually leading Yuki to develop romantic feelings for him.

Zero is a tall young man with short straight silver hair, snowy-white skin and lavender eyes, the latter varying in shade from the manga to anime. Zero is a casual dresser and is usually wearing his school uniform incorrectly, with the vest and red tie exposed from under his black jacket. He also wears five silver earrings; three on his left ear cartilage (top) and two on his right (bottom). Zero bears a tattoo, the Hunter's Seal, on the left side of his neck, originally used to suppress his vampire side, and later used to tame him. He has grown taller as the series progresses.

Zero is considered to be attractive and handsome, by both Day and Night Class students.Zero is generally a composed person. He is also protective of Yuki. Although he comes across to other students as cold hearted and hostile, he is friendlier towards Yuki and occasionally shows his true emotions to her. However, when Yuki was revealed to be a Pureblood vampire, he became cold and hostile, especially towards Kaname and Yuki. Though he appears otherwise, he is a gentle and kind person. Due to his childhood, he builds barriers around himself, and does not let these barriers down all the way, even for Yuki. Despite this, he has a kind heart which longs to protect humans, and he will never betray the ones he holds dear.

Ai Kuran (玖蘭 愛, Kuran Ai) is the only daughter of Kaname Kuran and Yuki Kuran who is the last Pureblood of the Kuran family.

She appears at the end of Chapter 93 with her younger half-sister to give Yuki's final message to Kaname when he wakes up from his 1000-year slumber.Ai has the traits that every member of the Kuran clan possesses, the ethereal beauty of the purebloods, who is very beautiful, like her mother Yuki Kuran and grandmother Juri Kuran. When Ai was a child, she had short, wild hair that was accessorized with a hair band. When she became a member of the Night Class, her hair had grown to her shoulders and she was described by her mother as soft and shiny like her father Kaname Kuran. Once reaching adulthood, Ai's hair had grown long and wavy with bangs that hung just above her eyebrows. In the extra chapters, Ai has been seen to wear her hair in a high ponytail when cooking. Ai has big eyes like her mother but with the reddish-brown color similar to her father.

It is noted by other characters that she resembles Kaname (Ai's father), having a calm face and a smile like Yuki (Ai's mother).

Hanabusa Aido (藍堂 英, Aidō Hanabusa), nicknamed "Idol" by the Day Class girls, is a member of and the heir of the Aido Family, protector and tutor of Yuki Kuran and the cousin of Akatsuki Kain and Ruka Souen. Hanabusa is an Aristocrat Vampire who possesses the ability to freeze matter.

Appearance Hanabusa is a fairly tall, lean and lithe young man with golden-blond hair and electric blue eyes. As with most Aristocrat vampires, he is very attractive and often draws the interest of several Day Class girls. He is often shown wearing his Night Class uniform, though he can also be seen wearing casual yet smart clothes.

Personality Hanabusa is a very outgoing and charismatic vampire who is also friendly and cheerful one moment but he can also be cruel the next. He often flirts with

Takuma Ichijo (一条 拓麻, Ichijō Takuma) is a member of the Ichijo Family and the Vice-President of the Night Class at Cross Academy. He is an Aristocrat Vampire and is good friends with Kaname Kuran, whom he is close to and respects. He also possesses the ability to disintegrate matter.Takuma is one of the taller male students in the Night Class, possessing a lean and thin frame. He has ash blonde hair that is kept in a rather unkempt condition like a majority of the male Vampires, and he has forest green eyes. His skin is rather fair but still a bit more tan compared to other of his colleugues such as Senri. On most occasions, he is seen sporting the Night Class uniform which consists of a black collared dress shirt under a white, black striped, eight buttoned blazer and a red tie. Along with this are white slacks and shiny black dress shoes which is customary of a male Night Class student; otherwise, he is shown wearing a much more laid back attire. Like all of the Night Class students, Takuma is described as being beautiful.

1000 years later, Takuma has aged considerably, resembling his grandfather; though his hair is more loose. He also requires a cane to walk.

Maria Kurenai (紅 まり亜, Kurenai Maria) is a sickly girl who was the new Night Class student at Cross Academy and a very distant relative of the late Shizuka Hio.

Appearance Maria's face up close Maria has a petite built and, like most vampires, has a pale skin complexion. She has grayish-purple hair and eyes. Her hair is long and straight, with a full dolly fringe at eyebrow length and a small bun adorning at the side of her head. She possesses beauty, like the rest of the vampire race, and in addition, is a distant relative of the Pureblood vampire, Shizuka Hio, whom she bears a slight resemblance to.

In Memories she is shown to have matured to look almost like Shizuka; likely due to her blood and Maria's close genetics.

Maria dresses formally like most aristocratic vampires.

Ruka Souen (早園 瑠佳, Sōuen Ruka) is a female student of the Night Class and one of the most faithful, protective and loyal followers of Kaname Kuran.

As custom as most of the Aristocratic Vampires, Ruka is considered to be a very beautiful female vampire that makes her popular among the Day Class males with wavy waist-length toffee-colored hair that has messy bangs framing her forehead on both sides, large coffee-bean brown eyes, a slim and feminine frame, her skin (although fairly pale) is a little bit darker than most her classmates and she is probably one of the taller female students in the Night Class.

As custom of a female Night Class student, Ruka wears the white Night Class uniform which is a black undershirt, a white button-down blazer with black stripes running along its seams and a red bow just underneath the collar of her jacket. She also wears a purely white skirt, along with black socks that don't quite reach the stretches of her middle of her thigh and brown lace-up boots.

Personality Ruka usually reflects as a haughty, bored, unapproachable and uninterested person to the rest of the world, probably due to her noble upbringing. She is portrayed to show disdain to those considered lower than her, or just simply ignoring them, refusing to acknowledge their presence. Ruka is sometimes cold to others affections, as shown when she rejects the Day Class Representatives' dance proposal by stating she cannot dance with someone she does not know.

Rima Toya (遠矢 莉磨, Tōya Rima) is one of the youngest Night Class students and the roommate of Ruka Souen. She has a close friendship with and eventually marries Senri Shiki, whom she works with as a model.Like most of the Night Class students and Noble Vampires, Rima has the natural creamy pale skin tone and a strikingly beautiful appearance with straight light orange hair that she ties in two pigtails with black hair ribbons where it hangs just below her shoulders in layered locks of gold when she leaves it down. The only part that is left alone is the bangs that fall just above her eyes and shorter hair on the side of her face, big blue eyes (similar to a cerulean color) and she is shown to be a slender girl with a perfectly proportioned body.

In the epilogue, a couple of years, Rima's hair is longer with even bangs instead of choppy bangs, but it is no longer tied with black ribbons.

Akatsuki Kain (架院 暁, Kain Akatsuki) is Hanabusa Aido's cousin and one of Kaname's "right hands." He is nicknamed "Wild" by several girls of the Day Class due to wearing his shirt unbuttoned. His nickname contradicts his mellow personality.Kain has a muscular build and a formidable height, the tallest vampire of the Night Class bunch. He seemingly lacks the classically pale vampire complexion. He has burnt-orange eyes and brownish-orange hair. His skin tone is tanner than most Night students. Kain also wears one silver earring in the middle of his left ear and is always seen wearing his shirt unbuttoned, contributing to his reputation as 'Wild.' He has a tattoo in the shape of a flame on his left hip.Akatsuki is a calm person who rarely loses his cool and often needs to reign in an impulsive feud between Aido and Ruka. He is incredibly perceptive and is frequently sensitive to others' feelings. His association with Aido frequently gets him into trouble despite not being directly responsible. He refers to Kaname as their 'Gang Leader.' He is also loyal and protective; the type who would never betray his friends. He reveals that he follows Kaname because Ruka does but someday he hopes to believe in himself.

Kaien Cross (黒主灰閻, Kurosu Kaien) is both the Headmaster of Cross Academy and the current head of the Vampire Hunters Association. He is the guardian of Zero Kiryu and the adoptive father of Yuki Kuran.

Kurosu means "black master", and Kaien is a combination of Kai "ashes" and en " village gate".

Appearance Kaien is a tall man with blond colored hair and usually pulls it back into a ponytail. Though he is over 200 years old, he looks to be a man in his mid-twenties. Kaien enjoys wearing very odd clothing and can be spotted with over-sized lion feet slippers, large colorful hats and pink aprons, occasionally. As one of the few characters that wears spectacles, he sometimes removes them in times of action. He can also have a generally light-hearted and comical appearance, but occasionally puts on a serious face during such situations. As a vampire hunter, Kaien had a generally more serious and mature design. He appeared to wear simpler, yet dark clothes and often discarded his glasses, especially before a big battle. His hair was often left loose.

Personality Kaien sports a cheerful personality, yet can be serious at the same time. It can be said that he has a few odd personality quirks, such as his propensity to launch into tearful dramatics over the idea of being a poor parent to Yuki. Additionally, he enjoys ribbing his adopted children, particularly Zero, often mocking him about being a vampire as he refuses to consider Kaien and Yuki family, a fact which Kaien jokingly claims breaks his heart. He also enjoys cooking very strange food and making Yuki and Zero eat it.

Kaien can also appear thoughtless, frequently overriding and ignoring Zero's distaste for vampires. He often tells only half truths to protect Zero and Yuki, and kept his knowledge of Yuki's past secret from both her and Zero. He is, however, quite proud, and very protective, of both his adopted children.
