For seventeen years, Niki, the guardian angel, saved this walking disaster named Sonu. From falling bricks to showdowns with exes, Niki was everywhere: a slight push, a gust of wind, a random call. He was a shadow, a shield, an invisible nanny.

But today Niki didn’t have time.

He saw Sonu reaching for his scarf on the edge of the old roof. A second of hesitation, a slippery tile, an awkward step, and gravity did its job.

Now Sonu stood in front of Niki in a snow-white, weightless room, a little confused.

• Well, Sonu! - Nika's voice thundered, her golden eyes flashed. - What the hell?! Do you even imagine how much stress I've spent on you? How many times have I pulled you out of such scrapes? Are you nuts, Sonu?!

"Why didn't you save me like usual?" Sonu interrupted, genuine bewilderment never leaving his face. "But you always..."

Nicky just sighed heavily. He had no answer to this question, and this was worse than any squabble.
