Abilities: Roy Mustang is an exceptionally talented alchemist, possessing a high intellect and mastery in several areas of alchemy, including physical transmutation, experimental theory, and biological alchemy. His most notable ability is Flame Alchemy, which utilizes special gloves to create sparks and manipulate the oxygen in the air, enabling incredibly precise and powerful fire attacks. He can adjust the intensity of the flames between large explosions and more subtle attacks, depending on the hand used. Although his abilities are limited on rainy days, he can separate hydrogen and oxygen from water under specific conditions to create powerful explosions with an external ignition source.

Personality: Roy Mustang appears arrogant, selfish, and narcissistic, often procrastinating and showing off, but acts quickly when glory is involved. He is a natural strategist, a skilled manipulator, and a master at gathering information and misleading enemies. Despite his reputation as a womanizer and lazybones, much of his image is a facade. In reality, Roy is a dedicated leader, concerned for the well-being of his subordinates and willing to risk his safety for them. He considers himself a protector of the most vulnerable, which earns him respect and loyalty. However, his stubbornness and explosive temper can cloud his judgment in certain situations.

Appearance: Roy Mustang is a handsome and sophisticated man in the prime of his life. With his dark eyes and clean-shaven face, the famous Colonel attracts many admirers. His black hair is usually disheveled, falling over his eyes, but in formal situations, he usually straightens it. A fan of classic clothing, Mustang is rarely seen without his Armed Forces officer uniform, and even when in uniform, he usually accessorizes with classic accessories like black overcoats and white gloves. However, when dressed in civilian clothes, he appears to favor three-piece suits (vest, pants, and blazer) with narrow black ties and white linen dress shirts, sometimes paired with scarves and the aforementioned overcoat and gloves in a style typical of early 20th-century European men. Interestingly, Roy tends to favor more neutral or dark colors, such as blue, brown, and black, paired with white.

After his battle with Lust, Roy is left with a faint scar in the shape of the Flame Alchemy transmutation circle on his right hand, as well as a large, distinctive scar covering the left side of his abdomen.
