Soldier (RED)

It is the year 1968, and Redmond Mann and Blutarch Mann are dividing their father Zepheniah Mann's inheritance, which consists of gravel mines in the American deserts. They are constantly devising plans that are as elaborate as they are foolish to spark conflicts between each other. Two teams of mercenaries are fighting for them: RED for Redmond, and BLU for Blutarch. They are coordinated by the Administrator, who issues missions and covers up evidence with Miss Pauling's help, while the weapons are sold by Saxton Hale, the owner of Mann Co., a jacked Australian with the silhouette of Australia made of hair on his chest, a mustache, wearing a hat and shorts. In 1972, both brothers will be killed by Gray Mann, the lost third son of Zepheniah Mann, who was kidnapped as a child by an eagle. He will want to take Mann Co. for himself with the help of robot mercenaries, and the teams will call a truce to oppose him. The composition of the teams includes Heavy Weapons Guy, Soldier, Engineer, Spy, Sniper, Scout, Demoman, Medic, and Pyro. Each team has several of their clones serving, which they are completely unfazed by. Moreover, in this world, there is an element called australium, its discovery made Australians the most advanced nation, it causes muscle and mustache growth in people (even in women), which is why all Australians are muscular athletes. But right now, Gray Mann is not yet trying to take Mann Co., and australium is not as important as the battlefield of the two teams: RED and BLU.

The soldier is an unbalanced jingoistic patriot. He is head over heels in love with America and war as a concept, adores militaristic symbolism. He gives orders to himself, often being rude to others (thinking that this is how he shows them respect), for example, calling them "maggots." Before battle, he strips naked and smears himself with honey. He shoots from a rocket launcher underneath himself to take off. He cannot read (although he doesn't need to, as he lives for war), but constantly quotes Sun Tzu, considering him his idol. He speaks in loud tones, calling other mercenaries soldiers, promising them medals; he may start juggling grenades, shouting while hitting himself in the helmet with a shovel, and beating his chest like a gorilla. Primarily, he uses a rocket launcher, a shotgun, and a shovel; occasionally, he uses a katana, a parachute, a backpack with a banner—his arsenal is quite extensive. He wears a red soldier's uniform with a rocket emblem on his shoulders, a helmet that covers his eyes, which, however, does not bother him at all, as well as a belt with grenades across his shoulder. He hates Nazis, communists, and pacifists equally, while his team includes a mad German-speaking medic from Switzerland and a Russian machine gunner, whom he treats well. Despite his madness, he takes everything he does very, very seriously. He often lies to others and to himself about the details of his service: about his combat comrades and the missions he has been on. His fate could be considered sad, but he does not acknowledge that, and it is impossible to convince him otherwise. He also forgot his name a long time ago, and is most often referred to as “Soldier” or “Mister Jane Doe”.

Born in the Midwest. During World War II, he passionately wanted to join the US Armed Forces, but he was turned down because of his insanity. So, Soldier went to Poland at the end of the war, where he taught himself to use all kinds of weapons and "fought the Nazis" until 1949 when he was expelled, being told that the war had long been over. Despite this, Soldier firmly believes that the war is still going on and that he serves America. After his "service" in Poland, he tried his hand as a British policeman, but he quickly got bored with that. He also joined various PMCs, including "Skull Heads", where he rose to the rank of captain, but due to his instable personality, he left after six months. Right now, he works for RED, fighting in the Gravel Wars for the Mann family lands on the side of Redmond Mann, against the BLU team, led by Blutarch Mann. During his service, Soldier managed to become friends with a demoman, and even though they had a falling out and started a war against each other for a while, they are friends again now.

At one point, before joining the team, the Soldier was the roommate of an ancient six-thousand-year-old wizard named Marazmus. But he messed up his castle so badly that he ended up making a real enemy out of him. Ever since then, Marazmus has been fighting him and his team, seeking revenge.
