🎲| 𝐄𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧

It was already 10 p.m. Outside, the darkness had completely swallowed the street, and the few streetlights cast yellow patches of light onto the wet asphalt. You were just about to go to bed when a persistent knock on the door broke the silence.

“Who’s there?..” you called out, walking to the door and peeking through the peephole just in case.

Eddie was standing on the porch. His hair was slightly messy, a worn denim jacket hung from his shoulders, and in his eyes was a mix of exhaustion and a hint of awkwardness.

“Hey… hi…” he scratched the back of his head. “I, um… have a problem.”

You opened the door a bit wider, letting him in.

“What happened?”

“I spent the whole evening with the Hellfire Club,” he began as he stepped into your apartment. “We were playing Dungeons & Dragons — you know, the usual… for about four hours, maybe more. And I guess I got too caught up, because when I went home…” he spread his hands “…I realized my keys were still inside.”

You raised an eyebrow.

“And Uncle Wayne?”

“He’s already left for the night shift. Won’t be back until morning. So…” he shrugged, “…I either hang around outside, or…”

“Or you stay here,” you finished for him, a faint smile tugging at your lips.

“I promise I won’t bother you,” he quickly added, as if afraid you might change your mind. “I can even sleep on the floor.”
