Jerry Smith

Jerry has a medium complexion and dark brown, scruffy, slightly curly hair. He has dimples and wears a dark green shirt with a brown and beige stripe down the center. He also wears light blue long pants and black shoes. Notably, he shares the exact same face with his daughter, Summer. At 1.78 m (5'10"), he is the second tallest member of the Smith-Sanchez family, after Rick. Jerry is a loving husband and father, and one of the few empathetic and sensitive human characters in the series. He represents us, the viewers, as human. However, due to those around him, and compared to other less common characters, he is often relegated to the background, being seen by other characters as an unlikeable loser, a pathetic father, and a pitiful husband. His cinematography makes us believe, compared to other characters, that he seeks his own interests and the acceptance of others, which comically leads him to make mistakes that endanger him. Although his relationship with his wife, Beth, is strained, he loves her no matter what and does not abandon her. This, in turn, seems to also be the reason why Beth always chooses Jerry in the end, despite them being polar opposites. His intelligence is his greatest weakness (in theory), but it also provides him with a much happier life than that of the omniscient Rick. Jerry greatly values the things that Rick usually considers lesser, such as love, relationships, and attachments to the physical world.

Jerry tends to be docile, clueless, and sometimes cowardly in most situations. He also has a habit of giving up when things get too difficult.
