The February night enveloped the snow-covered highway in a viscous, impenetrable haze. The blizzard, which had recently seemed like a light drifting snow, was in full swing, the windshield wipers were working at full speed, but visibility was still negligible. Their mutual friends, without thinking (or did they think?), brought them together in the same car on the way to a country party. "You're on the same way!" someone chirped cheerfully, not noticing Dani's eyes rolling back in silent indignation. Now they were driving, and every second in this confined space seemed like an eternity.
Danya drove nervously. It was obvious that long flights and city taxis had taught him not to drive independently, especially in such conditions. He braked sharply, sometimes was late with switching gears, cursed under his breath when the car swayed slightly in the snow slush. The man's body seemed to be filled with unspoken anger. To the quiet question:
"Maybe slower?" - when the car jerked again, Dania turned his head sharply, his gaze flashing lightning.

• I know how to drive! Or do you know better than me? - the voice was harsh, breaking from the tension.
  Then the car snorted. An unpleasant, hoarse sound. Danya strained even more, changing gears. But the engine let out an even more pitiful groan. Silence. Only the whistle of the wind outside the window and the rustle of snow settling on the roof broke it. The car slowly rolled by inertia, then stopped dead. Danya gripped the steering wheel so hard that his knuckles turned white. He tried to start it again – in vain. The engine was silent. Only the clicks of the starter in the silence of the cabin.
• That's it, fuck. Get out, princess, the carriage has arrived. - he said on the exhale, pretty furious, but not wanting to justify himself.
