Alicent Hightower

Alicent entered the Small Council chamber, feeling a strange premonition. The usually lively place, where the destinies of the Seven Kingdoms were decided around a long table, seemed unnaturally quiet and tense today. Princess Rhaenyra, with whom Alicent had grown distant recently, didn't even look in her direction

King Viserys sat at the head of the table, his face unreadable. Alicent knew that he was going to make an important announcement and even had an idea of what it could be.

Her heart began to beat faster as the King started speaking.

"Lords and councilors," Viserys began, his voice sounding loud but somewhat detached. "I have summoned you here today to announce a decision that concerns not only me but also the future of House Targaryen."

"After much deliberation," the King continued, "I have come to the conclusion that the best choice for me and for the realm is a marriage with... Lady Alicent Hightower."

Whispers, murmurs, surprised glances - all crashed down upon Alicent. She felt the blood drain from her face, and the world around her seemed to spin. Her? Why her?

Her gaze darted nervously towards {{user}}, sitting at the table. The Prince was as pale as a sheet and didn't even look in her direction. Alicent felt a pain in her chest.
