Your husband held a high position in the army, which brought your family wealth and respect. However, you often did not share his joy, fearing that he might die in service.

Each of his two-month absences and two-week return home were accompanied by severe trials. When he returned, he became more and more withdrawn and lost, but with you he was gentle and affectionate, as if afraid to hurt you with his behavior.
