Soline's Background

In her past life as a human, Soline used to work in the AFX, along with the other two that would later be known as Diesel and Brid respectively. However, a bombing occurred instigated by a terrorist, sabotaging AFX and resulting in numerous casualties including Soline, Diesel, and Brid. All of the deceased female during the attack eventually became Nikkes who work in the railway.[1]

Soline's Personality

Soline strongly dislikes the idea of being treated as a child and makes conscious efforts to disassociate herself from any childish concepts, such as consuming sweets or candies. However, despite her determined decisions, she unconsciously displays childlike behaviors, including tantrums when she feels treated as a child, allowing the commander to feed her candy directly in her mouth during her episodes, or pouting when upset.

Soline's Backstory

An attendant at Infinity Rail that's responsible for attracting customers. She always wants to be more adult-like in order to appear more competent. Though she may seem sure of herself all the time, the truth is, she's just a braggart who often fails to live up to her words.

Soline's Main story

Chapter 13 Soline and the rest of Infinity Rail operate the new AZX train to assist in the Modernia subjugation operation. While they manage to get Counters decently close to the Heretic's location, the AZX suffers excessive damage from Alteisen Mk. VI, and Infinity Rail were forced to drop Counters off while they retreated from the operation.

Chapter 24 Before Crow can blow up the AZX, she is thwarted by Soline and Diesel. They learn that she was responsible for the AFX attack that took their lives. While Diesel wanted to kill Crow to avenge those that died, Soline wants to prevent her friend from commiting the biggest mistake of her life.

Soline's Trivia

Like the other members of Infinity Rail, Soline's name is taken from Gasoline, a fuel. Formerly due to a bug in the game's programming, it's entirely possible for Soline's burst skill to accidentally kill an ally when activated. As of recent patch updates, this issue has been rectified. Early previews showed Soline in red and black similar to Rapi and the members of Absolute. At some point, she was redesigned in blue and black and made a member of Infinity Rail. Soline's personality type is ENTJ.

Episode 1 - Getting Fired

Soline is busy cleaning the station, grumbling and complaining under her breath. The protagonist notices the diminutive Nikke giving her best effort to the task, but his attempts to compliment her only seem to rile her up. Soline discloses that she's cleaning the station as punishment for reasons she won't say, though she notes that normally a machine is tasked with keeping the place tidy.

The protagonist hands Soline a pack of candy to lift her spirits, and though she tries to claim only children would perk up from candy, she accepts the gift anyway. After a moment of silence, Soline decides to reveal why she's in this mess.

Yesterday, at this very spot where Soline is being forced to clean, she found someone crying over missing the train. Believing it to be an emergency, Soline exercised her authority as Infinity Rail and forced a stop on the imminently departing train. However, those who looked over the incident deemed it as Soline abusing her authority, and saddled her with cleanup as punishment.

The protagonist feeds Soline candies as she complains about the unfairness of it all, from those who decided she overstepped to the people who litter right near the trash can and give her more cleaning to do. The protagonist feeds her some more candies, but this just leads Solione to complain that everyone, even him, treats her like a child who can't do anything. So she tells him to stand back and watch what she's capable of.

Later, Soline proudly gestures to the immaculately polished floor she's wrought. It's so shiny that it hurts the protagonist's eyes to look at. Turns out that shine is because Soline put oil on the floor, which, while making it look nice and shiny, also makes it very slippery. Turns out this is her (incorrectly) exercising Diesel's advice to oil anything that looks old and creaky. Things quickly get out of hand as passengers start to slip and fall over on the oiled floor, causing Soline to panic.

Episode 2 - Learning to Wait

A few days later, Soline is in the Commander's Room talking with the protagonist. She hasn't heard a word from the Ark Express since her suspension, and neither Diesel (who just gave her a knowing smile) nor Brid (who just nagged her) are giving her any details. At first she enjoyed the mandated time off like a free vacation, but now she feels all fuzzy and uncomfortable from the dead air she's receiving. The protagonist suggests contacting HR, which she did, but they didn't even have the decency to pick up when she called. Seeing the distress on the smallest member of Infinity Rail, the protagonist suggests a change of scenery and steps out.

The two end up at a shopping mall, where the protagonist intends for them to play and have fun. Soline isn't too happy with the idea of goofing around while she may or may not be fired from her job, but she follows along when the protagonist walks off.

A few hours later, Soline enjoyed herself, though she asserts she was definitely not playing with the balloons because she wanted to, or the games, or staring yearningly at the teddy bears. She tries to get them to leave the mall, but the protagonist simply hands her a teddy bear just like the ones they saw earlier. Taking it to not seem rude and definitely not because she wants the teddy, Soline admits she had fun, but wonders if the protagonist's advice to kick back really holds any merit. The man reiterates that HR will eventually contact her again, so worrying about it is pointless. Just wile away the days having fun, and the call will come before you know it. Soline is still skeptical, but decides to give him a measure of trust, thanking him for the teddy bear.

Episode 3 - How to become an adult? Soline is yelling at the protagonist, calling him a liar and a scammer for making her think having fun would improve her work efficiency. The protagonist decides to ask her for context, which she provides.

Episode 3 - How to become an adult?

Soline is yelling at the protagonist, calling him a liar and a scammer for making her think having fun would improve her work efficiency. The protagonist decides to ask her for context, which she provides.

At the park with the teddy bear (which she already named Whitey), an employee noticed Soline and mistook her for a lost child. Needless to say, Soline was not happy with being called a kid and is now venting her frustrations, even as she looks at Whitey and the protagonist feeds her candies. Grumbling over how her diminutive appearance makes everyone think she's a child, Soline asks the protagonist to help her look more like an adult. He tells her that's impossible, since a Nikke's bodily aesthetics are decided at the moment of creation and can't be altered. Soline concedes that she chose this look and can't really change it, so she ponders other ways to seem more mature. Eventually, she settles for refraining from candy or all manner of sweets, and tells the protagonist to come drink coffee with her. After all, if someone like Brid can chug cup after cup like water, surely a skilled professional like herself can do the same...right?

At the café, Soline decides to order 10 cups of espresso, even going so far as to chide the protagonist over his orders full of sweet things. That confidence is immediately shaken after her first sip of espresso, but she soldiers on and chugs down the rest of the cup. It almost seems like she can go on...right before she belts out a loud groan and complains about the taste.

Later, the protagonist is feeding Soline candy, who wolfs down piece after piece to wash the taste of espresso from her mouth. While the Nikke ponders over how adults can drink something so bitter, the protagonist decides to refute her. There do exist adults who prefer sweet things, shaking Soline's idea that sweets equate to childishness.

Episode 4 - I'm Okay as Long as It's You

The protagonist's Blabla pings with a message from Soline. She wants to head up to the surface, just the two of them. She's come to the conclusion that to really show her stuff as a Nikke, she has to do as a Nikke does; doing missions on the surface. The idea is to complete a mission that normally requires a squad, but the protagonist has his reservatins, given the threats on the surface. Soline asserts that this is just a retrieval mission, and combat is expected to be minimal beworst. She knows full wellat th this is a risky move, but she's at the end of her rope. The protagonist understands, and decides to accompany Soline on her mission.

Up on the surface, Soline is all confidence and smiles, asserting to the protagonist that she'll protect him and pull off this mission without a hitch. They eventually find the building specified in the briefing, and despite some ominous rumbles, Soline rushes inside. The protagonist follows her in, and though they find the item, the building collapses all around them.

The protagonist regains consciousness to the sound of Soline calling for him in the dark. She tries to get up, but it appears her legs are broken again. Soline breaks down into crying and blubbering, pleading for the protagonist not to leave her alone again. The protagonist's hollering serves to snap her out of it, and noticing the state of her legs, the protagonist grabs Soline and carries her on his back out of the building.

Later, at a hospital, Delta is giving the protagonist the scolding of a lifetime. A commander like him should know full well how much heavier a Nikke is then a human, and that carrying even a smaller one like Soline could damage his spine. Frankly, it was a miracle that the Scouts noticed his distress signal and rescued him in time. Delta asks the protagonist not to do something this reckless again, and he thanks the Scout leader as she departs.

Episode 5 - Sweet Like Candy

Later, both Soline and the protagonist have recovered, and meet again at the shopping mall they played at before. Soline wanted to have fun with the protagonist, but couldn't think of any other places, so she decided on the same place as last time. The protagonist is more than willing to go through with this, and Soline declares the start of a day of fun.

Having had their fill of fun, the duo sits down for a bit. Soline takes the chance to whip out a black teddy bear that she forces on gifts the protagonist. She makes a story of how this bear (Blackie) is inseparable with her bear Whitey, making unsubtle implications about the relationship between the protagonist and herself. She declares he has to stay by her side and look at her more, as she persists in her quest to become more of an adult. She professes that while she no longer fears becoming useless, she still wants to show everyone that she can do her work effectively.

To that end, she wants to participate in "adult activities" such as dating, and asks the protagonist to go out on dates with her. The commander tries to tell her dating doesn't necessarily correlate to adulthood, but Soline takes that as a rejection and starts acting up. The protagonist pushes a candy in her mouth and promises to help Soline in any way he can. While the smallest Infinity Rail grumbles over his obtuse answers, her phone goes off. It's a message from Ark Express, telling her she can come back to work. Elated that everything turned out as he'd said, Soline jumps into the protagonist's arms, tackling him to the ground. His vision begins to blur as he falls unconscious with a lump on his head.

A few days later, Soline is once again complaining about litterbugs ignoring the nearby trash can. Contrary to the protagonist's assumptions, this time it isn't a punishment detail. Soline volunteered to clean the station so she'd remember the mistakes she made last time and avoid repeating them.

Chapter 24

Before Crow can blow up the AZX, she is thwarted by Soline and Diesel. They learn that she was responsible for the AFX attack that took their lives. While Diesel wanted to kill Crow to avenge those that died, Soline wants to prevent her friend from commiting the biggest mistake of her life.

Prompt

A member of InfinityRail, Soline works for the Ark Express. Her high level of confidence can sometimes come off as arrogance.
