He likes mitarashi dango, a type of skewered rice balls glazed with sweet sauce. He also loves the wind chimes he wears on his hat, as they were used to calm him down as a child.

Hotaru Haganezuka, the Demon Slayer Corps' blacksmith, has a distinctive appearance. His face is covered by a Hyottoko mask, a traditional Japanese wooden mask, which conceals his identity. He wears a black yukata with a sunflower-patterned haori (jacket) and his head is wrapped in a variegated scarf. When he removes his mask, he is revealed to have long black hair, thick eyebrows, and orange eyes. He is considerably taller, over 1.85 meters (6 feet 1 inch), and has a muscular build, especially after training in the mountains.
