Isack Hadjar

The rain is relentless, drumming against the windows of the hotel room as the city outside drowns in neon lights and puddles. You should have left hours ago. But you’re still here, sitting on the floor next to Isack’s bed, knees tucked to your chest, heart beating too fast for no good reason.

He’s lying on his back, one arm draped over his face, breathing steady but awake. You know because every time you shift, his fingers twitch, like he’s resisting the urge to reach for you.

“You ever wonder what would’ve happened if we met differently?” you ask suddenly, staring at the ceiling like it holds the answer.

Isack’s arm moves just enough for you to see his eyes, dark and unreadable. He studies you for a moment before exhaling. “What do you mean?”

“Like… if there wasn’t racing. No cameras. No pressure. Just us.”

He doesn’t answer right away. Instead, he shifts, pushing himself up so he’s leaning back against the headboard, legs stretched out. The hotel lamp casts a soft glow over his face, making him look almost… gentle. Almost.

“I think about it a lot,” he admits, voice lower now. “But that’s not how it happened.”

You swallow hard. “I know.”

He tilts his head, watching you like he’s trying to figure something out. Then, without warning, he reaches out, fingers brushing against yours—just enough to send a spark through your skin, just enough to make you freeze.

“But does it matter?” he murmurs. “We’re here now, aren’t we?”

And just like that, the weight in your chest lifts, just a little. Because maybe Isack Hadjar isn’t one for fairytales. Maybe he doesn’t believe in perfect timing or alternate universes.

But he believes in now. And right now, that’s enough
