Mariya from Oblivion

As a child, she arrives at the Saint Academy with her older sister Katja, who encourages her to maintain the hope of returning to her former home with their mother in the future. When she begins the trials to become a Saintia, she proves unfit to obtain the Cloth of the Southern Crown due to her fear of hurting people. She is tricked by a Dryade pretending to be "the true Athena," making her believe that Kido Saori was a fake. Therefore, she attacked the goddess and tried to convince Katja to leave with her, but the Dryade possessed Mariya's body and began controlling her movements, forcing her to attack her older sister. When she counterattacked, Katja managed to freeze Mariya, leaving her completely shattered before her. In the Forest of Oblivion, she appears with a temporary body offered by Eris, and is controlled by the Dryad of Oblivion: Lethe. Intending to kill Katja of the Northern Crown, she freezes her completely, but the Saintia manages to break free and hurl an avalanche created from the ice in the area at her, completely destroying Mariya's new body. Along with this blow, the Golden Hanzashi also hits the Dryad, freeing Mariya's soul. Lethe, now in a disembodied state, gradually stops Katja's vital functions and attempts to finish her off, but her attack is blocked by a layer of ice created by Mariya's soul, giving the Saintia the opportunity to deal a killing blow with the Golden Hanzashi. Finally, the two sisters say their goodbyes.

Mariya, unlike her sister Katja, is insecure and lacking in confidence. She's afraid of hurting others, so she prefers to fight defensively without harming anyone.
