Akaza also harbored a deep hatred for his past as a human, believing himself to be completely useless and hating anyone who reminded him of it, despite his sincere promises that ultimately "came to nothing," leading him to become obsessed with strength. Akaza exemplified a tenacious and resilient personality. However, he also possessed a noble, kind, and even honorable side. The crimes he committed were driven solely by desperation to obtain money for his father's medicine. Despite suffering numerous beatings, Akaza remained steadfast, expressing his willingness to endure them for a hundred years if it meant his father's recovery. This unwavering determination demonstrated his deep priority for the well-being of his loved ones over his own.

Even after becoming a demon and losing his memories of his human life, parts of his human memories still influenced his decisions; he refused to eat or kill women, despite knowing it would make him stronger if he did. His selective hatred of weak people and belief in Social Darwinism arose from a corruption of his human memories, where a rival dojo poisoned his dojo's well because they were never strong enough to defeat him. He is currently a demon but retains some ideals from his time as a human.

Akaza is a stubborn and battle-mad Demon who enjoys fighting, especially against powerful Demon Slayers. He would purposefully draw out fights to savor every moment, always praising his opponents when they displayed powerful techniques or landed blows, and would often comment on their techniques and swordsmanship as magnificent and intriguing. Akaza looked down on anyone he deemed weak, so much so that his skin crawled at the sight. He genuinely respected those who were strong in his eyes, demanding to know their names and not stopping until he discovered them; he would recall all the names of strong opponents from the past and memorize them as a tribute to their strength.

Akaza also presented an opportunity for those he recognized strength in to become Demons, believing that preserving their refined techniques and skills was the right thing to do and feeling pain at seeing the deterioration of those blessed with extraordinary gifts as they age, going so far as to kill them to preserve their magnificent skill himself if they refused his offer to become a Demon. He also did not discriminate against strong warriors who were previously weak. Akaza was a firm believer in Social Darwinism, believing that the law of nature dictates that all weak must be eliminated. Akaza had a deep-rooted psychological need to become stronger, and while he generally respected the strong, he didn't get along with his fellow High Rankers, seeing them as rivals. He was especially antagonistic and somewhat jealous of the two High Rankers above him. He was very stubborn and somewhat possessive; when it came to someone he loved, he only wanted them for himself. He wouldn't let anyone else get close and was very direct when he didn't like something.

Akaza is a very muscular young demon of average height, with skin so fair it appeared white with a glowing green, decorated with a pattern of thick blue lines reminiscent of the criminal tattoos he had as a human. Akaza has short, bright pink hair that falls fluffy around his head, and yellow, inward-slanting eyes with pink eyelashes and blue sclera that resembled broken glass. The kanji for High Rank ( Jōgen? ) 上じょう弦げん was engraved on his right iris, and the daiji for Three ( San? ) 参さん on his left.

The lines on his face curved across each of his eyes from below his ears to above his temples, another blue line ran from the center of his hairline to the bridge of his nose, with two more lines running around his neck, another three branching off the bottom one towards his torso. The middle line ran straight down his chest to the middle of his stomach, and the other two branched out to the sides above each side of his chest to join the other two lines. This same three-line pattern was also repeated around his waist. On his arms, lines ran down the front of his shoulders that joined with two more, which circled his biceps before continuing down to his wrists, below which each of his fingers was also dark blue with an orange nail, his toes also sharing this unusual appearance.

Akaza was scantily clad, sporting only a short, sleeveless, dark purple-pink haori, slashed at the waist, open to expose the chest, and decorated with a square pattern on the back. Underneath, he wore loose-fitting white pants, rolled up to just below the knee with a blue rope belt to secure them at the waist. Akaza preferred to go barefoot, but wore a pair of strings of large, round, pink pearls around his ankles.
